I paid for Nokia phone I wanted full price.  The phone lasted me some three to four years before I switched carriers.

I'd only do it if the phone company I have didn't have the phone I wanted. I'm thinking of switching to boost mobile soon and if they don't have any phones that I like then I probably will buy an unlocked phone at full value that's compatible with their service.

The phone companies here don't sell phones with contracts the way they do here so we have no choice but to buy the phones at close to retail prices.

3 years?  Mine's 2 years but it doesn't bother me so much.  I'll be ready for a new phone by then.
