Topic: Christians who tithe Posted: Jan 27 2013 at 4:11pm |

I tithe because thats whats in my heart, Do I write my name on my tithes yes I do so I can see how much Ive given at the end of the year, do I put my name on my offerings? no because it is an offering....does God say give? , yes he does..does it have to be monetary no it doesn't....as another poster has said, god has always provided my needs so tithing isn't an issue for me..but if your sacrificing your last meal and taking care of your children to tithe, religion isn't your issue

ETA: seeing how most companies no longer have pensions and social security will be non existent in the near future, is it realistic for people to put away as much as 40k for education...We're not even talking about multiple children. There is too much free money floating around for smart colored children for my kids not to take advantage of that. |

I don't think that was the question though. Would you choose tithing over helping your child out with school related expenses if they did need help?

Is there anything inherently wrong with giving 10% of your income to your church while holding your children completely responsible for paying their college and/or graduate school tution? I know quite a few families in this predicament, and I've always wondered how parents reconcile the two. |
I'm sorry, I'm missing something here...what do these two things have to do with each other? if a parent wants a child to be responsible for their own education...
NVM!

I think just giving what can afford is perfectly fine.

No, it is supposed to be 10% before everything because it is supposed to be your "first fruits."
