Topic: School tells girl to get breast reduction Posted: Jan 24 2013 at 10:14pm |
Thats crazy!! Her mom needs to do a better job of raising her daughter's self esteem. She can't help she has breasts! I had breasts at a young age, but knew better than to let some peoples comments get to me! A breast reduction? Really though?! That's like recommending a child starts bleaching because people make fun of their dark skin

Oh my goodness Miss SDY . I am so sorry to hear about your cousin.
Adults really do fail children, then have the nerve to get upset when children turn out to be not so good adults.

Really sad when a young person takes their own life. I am just smh at the school district. You don't recommend that type of surgery for a child that is STILL growing.

So...
Is the school district going to finance this surgery and make sure her absences from school will not be counted against her? Since obviously breast reduction is the REAL and CORRECT solution to this problem..
How about they stop the problem at its source.. Which is not the young girl who has big breasts but the students who think they have the right to make her feel less than secure about herself. The students who think they have the right to make this girl feel bad about something that she cannot control..
So if she does get a breast reduction, what about the bullies? Will they not try to find a way to make someone else feel bad about their looks/appearance/whatever?
I mean seriously?? This is one reason why children are killing themselves. When they do try to speak up, they get ignored.. If they don't speak up and kill themselves, then they want to scream "well why didn't they just tell someone?" "Why didn't they just report the students bullying them?"
My 15 year old cousin was being bulled at her high school and shot herself in the head and died in November of this past year... Turning your nose up at students being bullied and parents that report it to the correct people needs to stop.

I was the top heavy girl as well, and I can't tell you how many times teachers would see or hear what was being said and do nothing. Bus drivers etc. I even told a principal that one was going so far touch me. His response was why didn't you tell him to stop?
This was a kid that was feared throughout the school, known for humilating people. I was too afraid to say anything.

That is truly shameful. It's much easier to place the responsibility on a preteen than to do their jobs. Tragic.

If the 9 y/o is making suicidal comments she needs to seriously consider pulling both kids out and start homeschooling. I think the mom's heart is in the right place, but
if she thinks the school is going to wave a majic wand and keep her 2
kids safe from bullying she's going to be real disappointed fast.

wow.... i agree but she may not be able to afford it. I would definitely look into them changing schools.
