Thanks for your tips! Vitamin deficiency really effect hair loss and growth.
So for healthy hairs, you must have healthy diet ( Protein rich diet), proper sleep and stress free. Also for vitamin D, you can take proper sun heat.Else vitamin D rich diet can help for the same.

I remember before I left the states I had a ultra sound/pap smear and I had a nice-sized fibroid..My stream would slant side ways. When I moved to Spain...it was sunny nearly everyday and I was out in it all the time..I don't wear sunblock and I noticed after spending time there my stream no longer slanted side ways. I already knew I was Vitamin D deficient because I couldn't drink milk in the states...so I had to take Magnesium supplements with Vitamin D and Calcium. Be sure you are taking a supplement with the Magnesium because that works hand in hand with the Vitamin D and Calcium as well. Anyways, the sun is pretty consistent where I live in China and I eat a lot of seaweed, which has magnesium, calcium in it...I should still take some supplements in addition...but so far, so good with me. I know when I do return to the states I will definitely be back on my supplements and I will be drinking Black Strap Molasses tea..so thanks for that info. I think the black folks up north suffer the most due to lack of sun ...well I know coming from Seattle we rarely saw the sun so I definitely was hurting there..over in NY/NJ it wasn't too bad, but I was on supplements heavy..I just noticed the biggest improvement living near the Mediterranean.

Thank you ladies for the additional information. I will see this week what the new levels are, but I am now going to make sure I take my doses with food/fat.

You likely need a B Complex/stress supplement in addition to D3.  D-ribose is also a good way to get added energy.  If you have a sluggish thyroid
or adrenal fatigue consider Lugol's/iodine. If you are very low consider taking 10000iu daily.

Thanks, sometimes I think my thyroid is crazy but I can't afford to get the test done. I do have b12 so I'll be more consistent taking them.

Vitamin D is related to hormones and related to thyroid and related to depression/well being and related to other immune dysfunction. Iodine is another valuable tool to help with wellness and decreasing breast cancer risk.

Fibroids supplements I recommend.  I have been using these supplements for about 6 months and my periods are lighter. I highly recommend researching the below supplements.

Lugol's Solution
Vitalzym (Enzyme)
Selenium
Methal-folate
DIM
thanks, missyo67 for the recommendationsHug. I need to take one more test where I check the hormones in my body (testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, DHEA) before I can come up with a good supplement regimen. As soon as I do, I will post it.
I was going to add a pancreatic enzyme for sure. I read if they are taken on an empty stomach, they may eat away at the fibroids. I'm off to check on the enzyme you posted, "vitalzym" and see what kind it is.

hmm, actually my dose is 50,000 units , not 5k like I wrote, but I only take it once a week for 12 weeks per my prescription. I wonder if it would be better to take 7,000 units a day instead.
For those of you who were also deficient, how much vitamin D were you prescribed?
I Plan on taking betweek 1k to 5k a day after this prescription, depending on what my levels are then.

eta: duration of prescription.

Back story, I'd been researching vitamin D deficiency for a while now because I have Fibroids. Not only vitamin D, but allot of other vitamins/supplements. Most of the supplements I take are for anti-aging, and congitive purposes. I wanted to get a regimen going to target my fibroids, so I asked my doctor for the test.
I just received my results  and I am also deficient. What really irks me is that I had to ask for the test and the doctor didn't want to write the order initially. Also, when the results came back, no one called me to tell me anything. I had to be the one calling and asking for a prescription. It came back below 13. Since the doctor was busy, I asked to speak to a nurse about it, I'm talking to her, asking her questions. I tell her, well black people in general are deficient because the melanin of our skin prevents vitamin d from the sun from getting into our body. This woman tells me that its not true and don't believe everything you hear. Mind you, this is a BLACK nurse. After she said that, I was ready to be out of her office, everything else that came out of her mouth as BS. What I don't understand is if a health care professional dont know about a certian topic, why dont they jsut say, I dont know much about vitamin D deficiency, so I can't help you? I left her office still with questions I'm trying to get answers to.

Anyway, I got the prescription yesterday (that's another story for another day), and she puts me on 5000 units a week for twelve weeks. I haven't started taking it yet. I think I'll take the first dose sunday. But ladies, be careful with vitamind D deficiency. There is a correlation between being deficient and Fibroids, Alzheimer, Parkinsons, cognitive issues, hair loss, Flu, etc.

Also, when you buy your vitamin d, make sure it is D3, or a combination of d2/d3. When I got my prescription, I asked the pharmacist what type of d vitamin it was, and when is the best time to take the supplement. She told me any time is fine. Well okay... Vitamin d is a fat soluble vitamin, so its best to take it with your largest meal that contains the most fat. For me, that would be dinner.

Here is a link to a very good article on Vitamin D, and an excerpt
Vitamin D: The Vitamin You Shouldn't Live Without
Vitamin D: The Vitamin You Shouldnt Live Without
  • Insufficient vitamin D is linked to virtually every age-related disorder including cancer, vascular disease, and chronic inflammation.
  • Human studies show that higher levels of vitamin D protect against cancer and other age-related ailments.
  • As humans age, they lose the ability to convert sunlight to vitamin D in their bodies.
  • Scientists have identified reduced vitamin D levels in winter months as a prime suspect for the seasonal increase in infectious disease cases.
  • Aging persons need to supplement with about 5,000 IU of vitamin D each day and have regular blood tests to achieve optimal blood levels.
  • Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient, so it's important to take it with the largest meal of the day.
  • Individuals with certain chronic health conditions may not be able to take higher doses of vitamin D.
