Great thread.

I never thought of the fact that there is no such thing as safe sex but I could see it.  I always say, if you're lucky, you get an orgasm.  Otherwise it's pregnancy and STD scares.  I don't know though.... I hate scare tactics.  Sex is incredible.  There has to be a way to enjoy it without fearing for your life every time.

Sex isn't a right that everyone must have. Its a choice.  You don't need it like you need food or shelter.  We get bombarded by media and society that "you gotta have it" to survive.  People with no/poor self control are the ones who are making the poor choices in general which lead to unwanted pregnancy and the high rates of STD transmission.  Children have under-developed self control and that's why the rates are increasing among our youth.

We've got to instill in our children early in life that their bodies are treasures not to be shared with just anyone. Stress abstinence first and "safe sex" as a distant secondary choice.  And this goes for both boys and girls.  I've got boys and I certainly don't want them having my grandkids willy nilly everywhere either.

IA scare tactics aren't the solution. Instilling our children with strong self esteem and the belief that sex is a precious gift not to be given frivolously or without great thought is what I hope to teach for my kids.

To make it in the form of a shot or something like depo.

The OraQuick test is imperfect. It is nearly 100 percent accurate when it indicates that someone is not infected and, in fact, is not. But it is only about 93 percent accurate when it says that someone is not infected and the person actually does have the virus, though the body is not yet producing the antibodies that the test detects.

Hmm ill take it

I don't think I'd trust an at home HIV test to be honest but that's just me.

Not sure if it is out yet, but back in July I read about a new home HIV test kit. However, they noted that a person who tested positive should follow up with a doctor's visit to double confirm and a person who tested negative should do a follow up test because it is possible the test could show positive for a negative person and negative for a positive person. It would be good to have in your home when you are dating or heck..even if you are married and you have suspicions.
