Topic: Are Milk and Sugar the Causes? Posted: Apr 19 2013 at 11:30am |

I stopped eating beef and pork and cut my consumption of sugar & dairy products and my skin has never been more beautiful. It has helped me lose weight too. I feel so good!

ok so i just started an regimen based on the above to get these cystic breakouts under control. my diet/water intake is pretty healthy but in addition to it i will be doing the following:
1. no milk or milk products
2. lower sugar intake by substituting the brown sugar for maple syrup
3. 2000mg Salmon oil (omega-3)
4. 1000mg Evening primrose oil (omega-6)
5. multi vitamin (that includes iron and vitamin E)
6. Echinacea with Goldenseal root 450mg
7. vitamin A 25000iu (for 2months)
8. probiotic acidophilus
i take other crap too but for other reasons so i wont mention as a part of my acne program.

doing all of this actually worked for me. i stayed on this course for a year and fell off with the sugar in november but not too bad. i stopped getting cysts altogether. i also started back eating cheese and in moderation. also when i started last summer using primrose directly on my face in addition to taking it orally.

If you have a dairy allergy, then I can see how milk would cause you to have acne. I used to drink damn near a gallon of milk a day and I never had acne. I was big as all outdoors, but my skin was beautiful!

My sister has food allergies - milk and egg specifically that cause painful acne looking allergy pimples. One way to check out if its an allergy is to keep a food diary. It was only when she looked at her diary that she was able to make the connection and insist on seeing an allergist who confirmed it. Now she cannot have foods made with either egg or milk.
There are alternatives to using milk or eggs - we have sorbet or Tofutti instead of ice cream, use non-egg based egg replacement (stupid people use egg in some of the common egg replacement products WITHOUT listing egg on the incredient lists) in baking goods and use rice/almond/hemp milk. Be careful with soy though because many people with milk allergies tend to have soy sensitivities. Also read labels carefully - its not always clearly marked as containing eggs and milk as ingredients.

^^^not starve, just control your intake of acne-causing foodstuffs. Try keeping a food diary of what you eat. If something breaks you out, you will know to eliminate or reduce intake of that specific food.
I can't handle a lot of diary or peanut butter. Do I not have any diary--nooo...just not too much of it.
Plus you have to figure out of if your acne is hormonal. Usually hormonal acne results in bumps/legions along the jawline. Whereas, bumps on your cheeks are usually related to what you ate.

So basically, if I don't want to have acne...
...I have to starve.
The reports of sh*t that causes acne are really annoying. It's like, "don't eat fish, meat, dairy, sugar, carbs, or vegetables that are too green." So wtf can I eat then?

This is an excellent thread. If only I had listened to my parents and articles like this one, my acne would've stopped years ago.

i definitely think there is a correlation between acne, dairy and sugar. i switched from cows milk (2% reduced fat) to almond milk and i saw a drastic change in my breakouts. i don't eat yogurt or ice cream often even though i LOVE them. Maybe twice a month or so. I cut down on my candy intake and usually stick to fruits, dark chocolate and what ever else that can satisfy my sweet tooth without going over board. i have seen a positive outcome of me changing my diet. i do get the occasional pimple here and there but its nowhere like before.

Great article. Iodine is also a major trigger of acne. Avoid canned soups, onions, brocoli, asparagus, kelp, shell fish. Foods high in androgen should be avoided as well; peanuts, peanut oil, peanut butter, liver, and organ meats. Acne is a disease, there is no cure for it BUT you can definitely keep it under control. You must get rid of all the triggers found in your hair products, detergent, make up, and skin care. It's a complete lifestyle change. @1timer Posner will break you out. Try the " MATTE" line from Bare Escentuals. Only get the mineral make up, do not get the warmth as it contains bismuth. MAKE SURE YOUR VITAMIN DOESNT CONTAIN KELP, CHLOROPHILE, SPIRILUNA. They will aggravate your acne.
