I heard that JBCO also helps with this. I have never tried it but I need to because my edges at the temples seems to be where I am lacking hair the most.....like the OP it has been that way since I was a child but I believe that is from my mother pulling my hair so tight in those balls....

I purchased my peppermint oil (swanson.com) grapeseed oil (vitacost.com) and I lucked out a got 5 lbs of Raw Grade A Shea butter ($22.39) on ebay, but you can purchase these three products anywhere. I just order a lot of stuff from the three on-line stores because I always get "Free" shipping Clap.

I have been having great success with my shea butter mix. I whip up SB with JBCO in lavender/JBCO Hair Food & grapeseed oil w/a few drops of peppermint oil. I bag every night and this really keep my hair moist. My edges also loves the Aussie moist condish & 3 min. miracle Heart. I purchased the beautiful textures rapid repair & leave in, it's been 6 days using both products.....my edges are in love ClapClap with these also.

I grow up with thinning sides and I have always wonder what I can use to help grow it out. I think I will try the peppermint oil. Do you all any other ways that can to help it grow out?

I buzzed my head on 1/12/12, ordered jbco hair food/and the jbco lavender oil/jbco strong roots, and my edges (plus the rest of my head) is coming in nicely. I got my order of shea butter last Sat. and whip up some hair butter and have been using it this week. I love the hair butter too but haven't used it long enough to really see if my edges is loving the shea butter mix.

Same issue with me: although it's recent, not as a child. Going to the doctor for full blood work-up before I head to the dermatologist.

Will try to remember to come back to you guys when I get the results.
