I rather read threads than come up with them. I only notice when people make the same threads or lots of "bait" threads.

We like to think that we want new and diverse topics, but they generally sink to the bottom quickly. The ones that are done frequently are done because people like to talk in them. Unpopular opinions, celebrities doing x, y, and z, scandal, etc. Those are easy and fun to talk about without being deeply emotionally invested...even when people are arguing.
