Hi, ladies.

I wanted to start a thread on doing twists on our hair without extensions....how to maintain the twists for weeks at a time...how to wash them, keep them moisturized, keep frizz at bay, etc.

I think these posts will be helpful for all of us that wear twists and want to find techniques on how to care for them....

Please share any tips that you have!

Smile

To help keep frizz away from twists when wearing then for weeks at a time:

1. never shampoo the twists themselves when you cleanse them.

2. use spritzes (whenever possible) to moisturize, rather than cream moisturizers.

Since my hair is short I use a comb to get my twist and I tie them down with a satin scarf. This is day 2. In really trying out a new product for moisture but my twist are still in tact

^^^awesome. how are they holding up?

to keep twists looking fresh, tie them with a satin scarf instead of wearing a bonnet.  the scarf helps to keep the hair lying down much better than a bonnet does.

for stretching hair, have you tried braiding the twists or pinning them to the opposite side of where they are?  both of these methods work well for me.

they hold up great.  but the issue is I don't like to wear them in that style, well not right now b/c I have fine hair and you can see every inch of my scalp when parted and twisted.  So I take them down in the am and wear it curly

maybe when my hair fills in more I'd wear it twisted
