How long do you leave your sew-in and what is your hair care stratgies. Do you wash your sew-in and how often? Also how long between sew-ins till you get another one? I'm trying to stretch out my relaxers with sew-ins that way I'm not touching my hair since it's braided underneath.

When I get sew-ins, I usually wear them for two months. I always try to get good quality hair so that it will last until I get another. I wash my hair every two weeks [at the salon]. I never co-washed in a sew-in as it was too much hassle for me. As for taking care of my hair underneath, I keep it moisturized everyday with a liquid moisturizer like S-Curl. The less I do to my hair while in a sew-in, the more hair I'm able to retain.

leave the sew-in for 8weeks and wash my hair every week.  I have EP kinky curly so i wet it every morning sometimes conditioning to refine the curls. the braided hair i wash every week  by mixing the shampoo and conditioner with water in separate applicator bottles.  My front is left out which is moisturized daily. I treat the weave as if its my hair which allows me to take care of it as my own.
Plus i paid a pretty penny for it so i make sure i take care of it to re-use it Wink

^^^ Yeah nets are not ideal if you want to get to your scalp.

I wear my sew-ins for 2 to 2.5 months and I wash my hair weekly. This is because I'm going hard with the growth aids and I don't want product build up. A clean scalp is key so I make sure to keep my braids clean. Like MissMesha, I use a good quality hair that can stand up to my cleansing regi.

I wear my sew-ins for up to 3 months typically washing with shampoo and conditioner weekly. Daily I use a  moisturizer that I created containing the mega-tek growth aid..I apply it with an applicator bottle so that it gets to the hair underneath. I wait a week between sew-ins and during that week I wear a wig, I do a protein treatment, and a major deep conditioning treatment. I did this for the first year of my hair journey and I retained so much length. Hope this helps.

I went to the salon to get mine washed, mainly because I could get my tracks re-tightened then, as well as I could get a new hairstyle.

^ Shard, do you know how to cornrow braid? If so, learning how to self-install is very simple.
