Ok, what does BSS hair mean? And thats sounds very helpful!! I called myself combing through it well before i showered but maybe im not. This is my 2nd time washing it since i got it put in about 3 weks ago! And it seems like my braids are either becoming loose or from washing it the some of the strings have come loose also..could that have something to do with tangling?? Maybe since my hair(weave) is dry BUT my real natural hair is still damp? I had no problems when the stylist washed and styled it...maybe i just need to be more cautious and observant...or buy a little more expensive brand of hair. lol |
BSS means Beauty Supply Store. As I'm finding out, ladies on here are buying superior grade virgin human hair from internet vendors. The average hair sold in the BSS is not always that good and I have experienced what you are experiencing in the past (very distant past, lol, Haven't had a weave in a long time, which is why I'm asking questions on here)
As for your braids coming loose, I would think 3 possible reasons:
- wasn't done tight enough by the hairstylist (which is tricky because if braids and sewing is too tight, that could spell disaster for your hair, so the hairstylist really has to be skilled)
- You are pulling and tugging at the weave while trying to detangle the hair. Grab the hair at the base with one hand to avoid excess tension, start detangling from the ends and work your way up with your other hand (again, with your hair saturated with moisturizer. Try something like Herbal Essences Hello Hydration? It works great on my natural hair, I don't know how it performs on extensions, though)
- You might have been scrubbing your scalp too hard in the shower. Make sure you're gentle.
Sometimes, it's just the hair that sucks. I've had to remove an install quickly before as well. It's frustrating because it feels like such a waste of money. Go back to your hairstylist for your next wash to see if it makes a difference.
Oh, and I forgot to mention. Check out the "How to make sense of info in the weave section" thread I made. Some ladies are saying that BSS hair is processed with some kind of product and that it looks great out the package but gets worse and worse after being washed. This could explain your results. Which is why I'm contemplating going the internet vendor route for my next weave
