Miguel has definitely taken a turn in the fashion
department in the last year, wearing high-fashion looks effortlessly.
Perhaps a combination of his style evolution and working with his
stylist Jasmine Benjamin, the crooner has gravitated toward designers like Lanvin and Saint Laurent and documented his travel looks for a recent trip to South Africa for NYTimes.com:

Outfitting himself in pieces from Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, Pierre Hardy,
and more, Miguel breaks down his everyday ensembles for the trip — a
format similar to those we see on fashion blogs. He expresses his love
for Hedi Slimane, saying, “I’m a huge fan of Hedi
Slimane’s photography. I want to meet this dude, and the fact that he’s
running Saint Laurent, a Parisian brand, from Los Angeles makes it extra
ill to me.”

Within the past year, Miguel has taken on a collaboration with t-shirt line Deer Dana and has covered The Fade magazine, giving the LA native some more credibility in the industry.

Miguel has definitely stepped up his style, allowing him to stand out from the crowd of trendy, Givenchy
tee-wearing men. Though I’m not always on board with his every
ensemble, I appreciate the change and think the fashion industry is
definitely starting to take notice. If the NYTimes sees fit to mention
you, you’re most likely doing something very right.
What do you think of Miguel’s style? Does he have what it takes to be fashion’s new “It” guy?
