I've been looking up different outfit ideas that I want to try making for my mini me. I saw this cute bandana skirt for kids on some site and site and started getting ideas. I have a sewing machine my granny bought me when I was in middle school and I think I've only used it all of one time so I want to put it to some use.

THOUGHTCOUTURE THANK YOU!!

I'll give that magazine a look! Also YouTube is such a valuable resource in learning damn near anything!

I've been looking up a lot on sewing on Youtube. It's one thing to read about it, but another to see stuff done for your observance!

This girl is absolutely darling.
I'll definitely be visiting her channel often!

I don't have a serger so I'll be using the overlock stitch! =D

Not the kind of skater dress I'd wear and the top was rather loose for her, but she did a lovely job and made it look so easy! How creative of her to make her own patterns. When I master pattern usage, I'll learn to make my own. :D

I was looking at this one http://www.amazon.com/Michley-LSS-505-Multi-Purpose-Built-In-Stitches/dp/B0021L9322 It seems to have some decent reviews. Hmmmm

The reviews are very mixed. Take caution, hun! I think there's better out there and in the same price range!

Some advice to those beginning sewing:

- Start small. There is a learning curve in sewing, so begin with small projects and as your skills advance, move to more complex projects.

- Buy a beginner sewing manual/guidebook for reference, and to learn the basics and sewing lingo.

- Practice. Practice. Practice. (Really this applies to beginners and advance seamstresses.)
