I think enhancements (makeup, weave, hair dye, fake nails, heels, relaxers, veneers, breast implants, etc etc) are great and if people want to use them because it makes them happier or feel better about themselves or just for fun, great.
But to say someone needs makeup or looks stupid, unpolished, unfinished, unkempt, inappropriate, or unfit (for the event like a black tie fundraiser or a business meeting for example) because they choose not to use makeup is just laughable.

Soap and deodorant aren't necessary...but everyone needs a bath.

Don't tell that lie! I've been on one too many subway cars stuck next to someone who either hasn't used soap/deodorant in too long or who didn't buy a strong enough deodorant. Cleaning yourself isn't optional but should be required. Deodorant (or its natural alternative) are not optional either. E'rbody can benefit from proper hygiene choices.

I guess you missed the part you bolded that said "natural alternative". However, since you're referencing it, yes, if you cover your entire body in deodorant and reapply all over your body multiple times a day, it'll cause cancer. I love when people hear a study and run with it. Actually take the time to realize how they found those results. Nine times out of ten, the scientists upped the intake of the offending carcinogenic item to the point of ridiculousness. Just like Aspertine (sp) the artificial sweetener can cause cancer...if you eat the equivalent of 5lbs of it daily like they did to the lab rats they tested on to find those conclusions. ETA: This is posted on Cancer.gov, The National Cancer Institute: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/AP-Deo *article summary: However, researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), a part of the National Institutes of Health,
are not aware of any conclusive evidence linking the use of underarm
antiperspirants or deodorants and the subsequent development of breast
cancer. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates
food, cosmetics, medicines, and medical devices, also does not have any
evidence or research data that ingredients in underarm antiperspirants
or deodorants cause cancer.
