i LOL'd b.c that could be true for some but i still don't get why there's any looking down on thinking you look good or better with no make up...it's like the same thing as someone saying they prefer their hair in a natural state and don't use any extras...that's applauded, so this should be too.
i wear make up quite often and do feel more attractive with it on but i also go out fresh faced and feel fine. if someone with no make up feels like they look good when they look in the mirror and still gets attention from those they seek it from, why is it needed?

growing up, i always thought make up was more of a white people thing. i know that sounds crazy but most black women i was around did not wear make up except for special occasions. it seemed like all the focus was on hair, clothes, and nails. even when i became of age to go to clubs, a good number of females were bare faced in there aside from lip gloss. |
It might've been said here (not this thread, but one of the many makeup threads that have happened in the last 2-3 months), but many women of color didnt wear makeup like that because the companies didnt make shades for us. The few that did had no depth or variety. (example: olive, cream, beige, tawny, tan, deep dark brown with red undertones)

There are tons of women that look beautiful without makeup but there are a whole boat of those who unrealistically think they do too.< id="adlesse_unifier_magic_element_id" style="display:none;">

that makes sense b/c i definitely had trouble finding things back in the day. they still didn't need it though. they worked with what they had and looked fab.

I'm def not delusional. I have gone to stores and they put makeup on me and yea, I looked better.. I just said that most could benefit so... Idk how I could be delusional. But doin that to my face everyday is just not for me. My skin isn't perfect (no acne/pimples but texture wise, it could be better) but yea I just don't feel like its necessary for me right now. In the future Ill probably wear it.
But I agree with wonderland.. I don't understand all this low key shade and what-not over the comments from ppl who feel fine without it. In all of these threads it's, "hmph.. She could benefit from some liner and mascara.." But let that be about a weave or relaxed and its a problem

<---team barefaced with celie braids and not delusional.
I recognize that makeup and a different hairstyle would make me more attractive/acceptable to lots of people. And that people probably form negative judgments about me based on the fact that I "don't care about my appearance" (according to them and their standards). But as long as I'm clean and comfy, I'm good.

I just threw that out there to see who responds. I actually don't care what you do with your face. As long as you are happy it's all good to me.
