I have so many expired condoms.
I never carried condoms at the right time. Often times we'd end up at Walgreens together checking out the assortment of condoms and lube. |
lol That's why I ended up giving mine to my brother. If I would've kept them most of them would've ended up expiring.
Including my BF I've only ever had sex with two people. The other person I did use condoms with but with my BF I never did. Thankfully we get tested together every so often though so from what I've seen from his results he doesn't have anything.

I'm thinking about keeping condoms in my house just so my kids can have easy access! I like the little Just in Case cases. My daughter acts like I'm really reaching with these conversations but if she starts having sex like I did, it just happens and the only way you're prepared is if if you're prepared *shrugs* I know 14 is young but the only thing my parents said about it to me was, "Most girls who get pregnant as a teenager get pregnant the first year having sex."

Personally I think 14 is way young.
I think you could still push abstinence at that age and tell her about the benefits of saving herself. She may stray then you can swoop in .
But I wouldn't want to toe the line of encouraging her.
You sound like an awesome mother D

With how early kids have sex these days I don't think 14 is too young at all to talk to kids. I don't remember my parents having any sex talks with me either although I plan on doing so with my kids because I want them to feel like they can ask me (almost) anything regarding sex. I don't want my kids feeling like they have to sneak around and have sex without me knowing.

Thanks Jones. I definitely encourage abstaining. They have older girls come to youth group and tell their stories which is a cool way I think to encourage it by learning from someone else. But the thought of any of my kids contracting HIV because of fear of buying condoms or lack of knowledge is a bit much. They said 13-19% of new cases were 13-19 year-olds. I know 14 is way young but they made the cut! Soooooo scary.

Question for younger ladies: Are you embarrassed to carry condoms? My daughter would be horrified. She didn't even want to go on birth control for her periods because she said other kids would thing she was a ho. I'm just curious if this thinking is prevalent with sexually active women.
I can remember feeling that way up to like 20 years old. |
I don't carry them (as i don't have sex on the go ) but I have bought and do keep some in my drawer at home
but i'm also grown and don't have to answer to anybody. a teenage may not feel so secure

I hear this type of thing a lot. How true is it though? Are the drugs so good that people have equal life expectancies to those who are HIV-negative? And if yes, is HIV/AIDS something we even need to worry about for ourselves and our children?
|
I read that herpes has been spreading because people can be contaminated even when using a condom. Also you can transmit to other people even if you don't have an outbreak. And people who has oral herpes can pass it to someone else's genital area when they are giving them oral. Herpes doesn't kill and some people have it and don't even know it because they haven't had an outbreak, so they keep spreading it. It is said that most of the US population has herpes but I think it's highly exaggerated.

My aunt stopped taking her meds a few months back. She says she feels better without them but she also is in denial about having the virus in general. She has had it since the late 90s but didn't start taking meds until 2011. I'm pretty sure she has some undiagnosed mental disorder as well. With everything she has put my family through, I didn't really care that she stopped taking her meds. I am all for her speeding up the process so my family can move on beyond this. |
wow! she has had HIV for a decade and only then she started taking meds? is she a drug user? maybe that's why she was in denial. why did she start taking the meds? did she fall sick>?
