Honestly, maybe the mom viewed the car as more of a need. My mom helped
me get my first car, but I didn't get SAT tutoring. I got a 1250 out of
1600, which was alright at the time, but I worked hard. None of my
siblings got SAT tutoring. I bought my brother's ACT prep materials. I
think that older people may not see the necessity of SAT tutoring. My
kids will have SAT/ACT, MCAT/LSAT/GRE/GMAT, and state licensing exam
tutoring. That sh!t matters, and having this help makes a difference.

The only thing worse than a momma's boy, is a momma's boy with daddy issues.
I am starting to think men with daddy issues are the woat

Doing it alone is hard. Minorities have to do a better job of preparing our kids for entrance exams.

yes. Often tutoring isn't an option for many minorities. When I tutored for SAT and other exams, I volunteered at the center to help 'my people' ; but I charged ( a high rate) to the others. Not right, but I didn't mind.

I know she needs it and deserves that and more
I just wouldn't want her to wait on her mother and not prepare in the meantime

I agree the tutoring is helpful, and it's good that she has the sense to even ask for it. Why not want to be at your best for an important test? I just can't see myself ever telling any future child of mine no to something in relation to their education. They want prep school to prepare them for college? sure, tutoring in specific subjects? of course, SAT tutoring? yep!...I mean why not? :l
I had SAT tutoring myself, and prep school during my HS years and I feel both were worth it. ^^

I literally didn't study a lick for the SAT and did well. If she's as bookwormy as you claim then that $1200 asking price is booboo. Tell her to save that $1200 on a test that matters i.e. the MCAT, LSAT, PCAT, etc, etc. She'll thank you later.
