Why is it ridiculous to comment under the video? We are free to state how we feel while being respectable which I was. I had already mentioned the same things that you stated about the lady not knowing about the method per say and using different products. Plus I also mentioned others who have already used the term max hydration. I did my research on the matter and I have been very respectable about the matter. I do believe that it's an unfortunate but honest mistake that the lady really may not have known about. Read my comment on the video and u will see it for yourself.

Sodium Bentonite is the most swelling of the bentonites. It absorbs moisture and swells. For this reason, it makes an excellent lining for a pond to help prevent loss of water, but it is generally not a good idea to put a Sodium Bentonite down the drain after a bath, since it may clog the drain.

I tried making a flaxseed gel custard......it didn't thicken, but became more of a soup with little bits of my body/hair butter, suspended in it lol. But anyway, how do I go about cleansing the hair? Will the usual vinegar or conditioner-baking soda mix be enough.....our do I need to shampoo??? It doesn't feel greasy at all.....although it hasn't yet finished drying in some places.

Good Afternoon everyone!
I've been doing the MHM since August or September, can't remember and I'm still loving it.
I'm loving it more since I changed to a new form of the method that is introduced by @dubaidee4c on Instagram. You can also find her at http://dubaidee4c.blogspot.com. She gives Pinkcube all of the credit and uses MHM as her inspiration.
I've been doing her revamped method every day this week with awesome results.
All she does is the clay step and style with flaxseed gel. I know you're probable thinking that you hair will completely dry out without the conditioner step but I promise you that it doesn't.
My fist time trying her method was an utter disaster. That was mainly because my hair was already going through a major set back which was my own fault.
But I was determined to make this work for me.
So what I did was clarified my hair with a sulfate shampoo to start with a clean slate. Then I did a cherry lola treatment (the same one pinkcube recommends). After that I skipped right to the clay rinse and then flaxseed gel.
I kept playing around with the clay because I was still having issues with major frizz and dry hair.
What I ended up doing was making my clay very watery.
So my recipe consists of 2 to 3 tablespoons of clay (calcium bentonite clay. I just purchased sodium bentonite to give it a try), 1/4 cup of ACV, tbsp of olive oil, tablespoon of honey and fill the rest of the bottle with warm water. The clay is the consistency of water basically. My hair is loving this better than the full method and it's so quick and easy that I've been doing it every day in the shower. No dryness, no single strand knots, less shedding, beautiful curl definition, my hair dries before I go to bed (use to take all day. I have a serious head of hair) and my hair is reaching max hydration at a quicker rate than with the original MHM method. You have to check this out. If you are having set backs like me because you don't have time to do the full regimen this may be the answer to your problems. Also Dee is more than willing to help you figure out any issues that you are having. I've been emailing her since I starting and she gets back to me to try and get to the bottom of what is going on. Also, I should note that my flaxseed gel (just 2tbsp of flaxseeds and a cup of water) is very watery as well and it works like a charm. As I've stated before I have some serious hair. Very thick strands so I always had to use a very thick gel to achieve definition but not with doing this method. My hair absorbs the flaxseed gel like water and the result is great definition.

Thanks Tallbeautie!!! Pinkecube posted on a FB post that she was trying the modified method too. I haven't checked back as to what her findings were though. Do you use a spray bottle for your flax gel too?
Dubaidee's hair seem to be similar to mine (fine/not real dense). I am a very laid back (read lazyLOL) when it comes to my hair so I definitely slacked off on the original method once it got cold here. I'm always cold too so winter hair washing was a pain!!

With all that said I'm glad it's working for you and ALL your hair! This will save me some money too. No more KCKNT or KCCC. I have flax seeds but have been to "laid back" to make some more. I made too much and it went rancid quicker than us using it up.
My daughter & I will be starting this soon. I'll try to update too since this thread is dead/dying. LOL

Creole are you saying dry as in flakes? Or just  regular dry (ashy) scalp?  I was having an issue with flakes but it was my clay I wasn't throughly rinsing. I have seborrheic dermatitis  & I think when I use honey in my clay mix it seems to not rinse as well as when I don't use it. Other than that I haven't experienced dry scalp.

Also maybe switch up your clarify step. Like if you use baking soda mix then switch to ACV mix for that step.

For Seasoned MHMmers

If you are experiencing setbacks then follow the above advice for beginners or if you just wish to accelerate your progress, try this…

Step 1. Do a Clay rinse

Step 2. Seal with a Botanical gel.

For low porosity types I would suggest using flaxseed and or Okra gel. Do the CLCT as needed.

Maintenance

Wash your hair regularly with water or clay rinses, I suggest water only washing in between clay washing days. Rinse your hair in the shower and apply the clay mix, detangle and rinse immediately allowing the water to soak through your hair. Rinse thoroughly and finish with a final cold rinse.

If you wish to GHE (green house effect) then you can do so on product free hair by rinsing out with water at night or you can apply a little oil to the ends of your hair. If you don't wish to rinse the gel off then spritz your hair with water on days that you don't wash. On water only washed days, reapply gel.

To speed up the drying process, don't shake off the excess product, once you have applied your gel, flip your head upside down and turban with a t-shirt for a few minutes  or you can use a paper towel to blot the excess. You can also stretch your hair by doing roll, tuck, clip in large sections before covering with the t-shirt.

its dry like it needs oil kind of dry, not flaking. I'll take your advice. It could very well be the baking soda doing it.

PEACE QUEENS!! I was doing so good with the MHM & I suddenly got Burned Out & have been very inconsistent with the regimen & Slacking Big Time since last year October!! Smh

Question: Is there any bad side affects from using an Old Homemade Flaxseed Gel? I made one & its been sitting in the refrigerator for about a Month & 1/2 but I haven't been washing my hair I made it ( I Know... Horrible!! But I would Hate to Waste it!!

What's the longest the Flaxseed should be stored for? Has anyone used an old flaxseed gel? Is there chances of getting a Scalp Fungus Infection using an old gel? I'm not sure if the gel grows Bacteria when it is old or not? Does anybody knows? Thank you in advance!!

Just a little rant, this message is not to offend anyone..

Sooooooo I've been doing the MHM for 7 months and with a little tweeking I'm starting to see wonderful results. No drying, better curl definition, less frizz etc and good hair edges lol. Now my product of choice is Kinky Curly Custard, Aztec Bentonite Clay and Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave In...Now here is the problem... well not so much a problem but its just letting me know how viral this method is getting. Went to Walgreen's today in Detroit to get the KCC and why was it 17.99.. I'm like WHAT!!!! as if 16.99 wasn't enough. So I'm like, I use enough of this stuff as it is and getting only 8 oz and 4 uses doing my hair every three days. So, I took one of my old jars and put about 1/4 cup or so of gel and filled it up with water and made a full jar. Mind you, I still got the slip and my hair is much shinier and full of body. I refuse to continue to keep buying KCC on the level I am with only 4 uses. But I'm afraid to try any other gel because I've had enough set backs trying to tweek the regimen for my hair. The second problem is when I first started the regimen I could go to WholeFoods, Vitamin Shoppe to purchase the clay...Why both stores have been out of stock for nearly a month. I'm like everybody cashing in on the MHM..Maybe its a coincidence or something but I cant get my hands on the stuff in Detroit. Anyway I remembered I had some Green French Clay at home and used that. OMG I'm glad I did because Green clay for my hair is much more moisturizing than the bentonite clay ijs..This has changed my hair so much.... my moisture levels have gone from 20% to about 50% in 4 washes. Finally, I love the MHM and i freaks out if I can't get my products.

Again, this message is really me just being silly and venting to all the fierce hair naturals because everyone I'm around still wear perms and don't get not having products because I've gone through the struggle for three years with this dry, nappy hot mess of some hair. some days good and others to bad to mention...So I just want to be able to get my products..LOL Peace and Love..

PS Im not sure how to post a message so I'm guessing this will post as a reply..

Hi...I'm a newbie here to all of this but just an fyi - Target has KCC and KCKT both for $11.99.  Hope this helps.
