Okay, help me out here. When I 1st started 2 weeks ago my hair was straight/flatironed so really didnt need to detangle before the CL treatment. You are to apply to dry detangled hair but uh..... I dont want to rip through my pretty little curls!!! How are you detangling before CL treatment? |
If I know I am going to do the CL Treatment I usually mist my hair with water the night before detangle and do large twists. The next day my hair is dry and I can do the treatment. Remember you don't HAVE to do the CL Treatments every 2 weeks, the recommendation is to do no MORE than every 2 weeks. You only need to complete when you feel your hair needs a mild protein treatment that can be every 2 weeks once per month or every months.Hth |
I don't detangle before the cherry Lola. I detangle after I apply my conditioner which is when I usually detangle. |
Thanks Crownstar & DenzKoils! I ended up not detangling the rest of my hair after that 1 section I started with. I just applied in sections and went on with the rest of my steps and detangled during the conditioning step. I may stretch my CL to once a month. I do have color in my hair so....I'll have to figure out a good schedule to get/keep my hair healthy.

Questions: Hair gels. Has anyone tried any of The other gels on the recommended list. I'm just about out of the kinky curly and thought I would try a new gel. If so please let me know your thoughts. I am still working on perfecting the flax seed gel recipe. It gave me great hold but seem to make my hair dry.
Aharri: I watched your video on the green tea gel do you like. Have you tried any other gels you recommend?
Tallbeautie: I know you received the Tresemme from the giveaway, have you had a chance to try it hopefully you like it. Hopefully the international giveaway winner will get theirs soon international shipping takes a while.

Hey Crownstar, I ran out of KCCC so ive been using my Green tea curl glaze. I'm starting to like it more and more. It gives the same definition as KCCC, but takes less time to dry, so I like it for that reason. I have to order it online though, which sucks. I've tried the herbal hair styling gel twice, but It's nothing special. I'll have to use it more then report back

Hi, Crownstar. I use Herbal Choice Mari Hair Styling GEL and I like it. My TWA dries in a few hrs. I experience NO flaking or whiteness even though my conditioner mix is quite foam. I'm not fond of gel, so won't be much of a junkie like I am w/the approved conditioners. I used Giovanni and it was a hard, drying experience for me. Wasn't able to make flax seed gel this weekend but still plan to. Flax seeds are just SO healthy.

Hi everyone!! ahhh I am so floored! I found this forum last week and soaking everything in. Just made my account right now, so I apologize if it ends up in the wrong spot lol. I made it a point to read all 240 pgs of this post before saying anything and I am glad I did because now I only have one question. Before beginning MHM should I shampoo? Or no since it is drying to the hair? I am not sure how to classify myself but I have been CG past couple years using a poobar for wash days but this year I went "water only" because I still had dry hair especially on wash days. so my hair hates shampoo but it also hates cowashes and after 3 months of water only and doing acv rinses my hair felt even worse plus coated and it started breaking so i did aphogee 2 step (the only protein I have ever used in a few years bcuz my ends were very weak and not curling) but even after that its just dry. so I went trying to find a moisturizing product this past month and have used silicones and petroleum and such on my hair in attempt to seal in moisture. After reading everything here the dryness makes sense I just really hate shampooing my hair my roots are really puffy and matted everytime i do it and my ends take a few days to start curling again. Idk my hair type all I see is some parts are curls but not tiny or zig zaggy but overall i have a barely curled fro lol but I am definitely low porosity. I did the test and my hair floats, it also turns white with conditioner and its just drrrrrry like this desert I live in.
Oh, sorry second question. bcuz I did do the aphogee 2 step with the hydrolyzed keratin in it, I should skip the cherry lola treatment right...???

I just wanna take dis time out to thank you pinke and msddee and everyone on dis forum. I can to dis forum frustrated and ready to give up on my natural hair journey. Infact i bought a texturizer watching youtube videos on how to texturize. My hair has changed tremendously and im now loving and enjoying my hair. I hav just one question. My hair is very short so i twist it after applying da geland everythin looks great. Bt da next day when im untwisting it . This small particles of white stuff coming from ma hair to my cloth.and i amy hair looks dirty with dis whitish stuff. I think it from da gel flaking. So what can i do to help. I already dilute my gel.

Hey gigglemey! I'm sure someone will chime in with more information, but until then allow me to say welcome! Per
shampoo - if you have used silicones recently, I'm tempted to recommend
a shampoo wash to get some of that off your strands. It could affect
how quickly you get to max hydration, unfortunately. Pinke previously noted that BS or ACV will not get
rid of cones. Have you purchased your MHM-recommended products
yet? If
the answer is yes, I would shampoo and apply an
approved conditioner. Then, I would follow up, the next day, with an
ACV/BS rinse, co-wash, clay, leave-in, gel and continue the method everyday for the 7-day challenge or whatever you can do. I'd hold off on the CL
treatment until 2-4 weeks have passed or until you think your hair could
do with a little protein boost. If you can wait for Pinke or
Msdeekay to chime in, please do. One of them, or another MHMer might
give you an alternative approach. Whatever the case, good luck!

Are there any ladies out there doing the bald spot regimen? I'm planning on starting in September, but I'm just curious to know if I'll be doing this by myself. I have 5 wigs that I'll be using during this regimen and I'll also be wearing scarves and beanies. I'm going to do this during the winter months because I don't want to deal with my hair when it's cold outside.
