Fill in the Blank. Maybe we can all help each other...
The Longer My hair gets the harder it is to wear wash n gos and not end up in detangling hell later on. As my hair lengthens (I'm about BSL now) its also thickening up more, and I find when I wear wash n gos, even when I detangle, later on its sooooo tangled. I had been doing twistouts and braidouts for a while and when I tried to do a wash n go, not only was it a mess to detangle later on, but it seemed much dryer. I used to love my wash n gos....any suggestions as to why its getting harder??
Ladies post your probs too...We can all help :-) |
it's harder because of all the air that hits your hair. basically the exposure evaporates the moisture from your hair. i have the same problem. i usually moisturize 2-3 times a day and lightly apply a drop or two of oil to my ends with my fingers (i carry it in my purse and twirl the moisturizer and oil onto my ends during the day in the ladies room) also, keeping a bottle of rosewater and glycerin spritz in your purse to LIGHTLY mist your hair with may help too. these things have helped me. but the best solution i have found is to wear wash n go styles RARELY.

... avoid set backs. It seems I have periods where my hair thrives and periods of set backs. My latest one is 2-3 inches of under processed hair that's causing breakage.

one more thing.....have you tried leaving conditioner in your hair after to do your deep condition? Try a silicone free conditioner like Knot Today or Tressemme Naturals moisturizing condish AFTER you deep condition. Apply it liberally and leave it in your hair. this may help you to hold moisture.
