The main points of this issue, its been a 2yr battle:
- In 2011, TX passes a law that ANY abortion provider cannot get money from the state and Texas wants to set up is own woman's health program and not the one ran by federal govt
- A few months later the Obama admin tells TX that it rejects the new TX law and it will withdraw $30 million it gets for women's healthcare
-Rick Perry & TX officials tells the federal govt "well eff u, we'll find the $30 million by ourselves, we gat this, TX aint broke"
-The lawsuits begin: PP uses one of its patients as the plaintiff saying that TX cant exclude PP from their new health program and that's unconstitutional and discriminatory.
-A judge issues an injunction to allow PP to continue to get taxpayer $ while the lawsuits continue
-TX files a stay and court of appeals allows the TX law to go into effect
-Obama withdraws all federal $ for the program, cutting healthcare for 100k women and PP sues the state of TX
-The new program starts today, TX set up its own women healthcare program which provides all the services that PP did (cancer screenings, contraceptions, etc except abortions) with over 4000 locations statewide (PP has maybe 80 locations here).
