you had said something about the benefits of the ppt treatment. The cuticles can get degraded particularly on the older hair. The ppt will bond to the cuticles and fill in the weak spots to help with length retention and the overall healthy appearance of the strands that all. Aphogee is fine for that post treatment.
Regarding the link the pic of my hair straightened ... make sure you do not put www in front of it

Quick update: I'm a little bit over 1.5 inch away from tailbone length. So it looks like I could make tailbone length at the end of this year, but it might be a close call.

I havent done anything exciting with my hair over the last few months, but it has gotten a little bit lighter over the summer. I might try and speed up the process some by starting honey/cinnamon treatments.

I haven't flat ironed my hair in 8 months now, and I'm thinking that I will refrain from straightening my hair until I reach tailbone length at the end of this year. I'm really looking forward to seeing the full length of my hair again.

Happy growings to all of you!

This thread has been pretty idle. Are you all still on the challenge?
The year is almost over, so I'm curious to see your progress.
Haven't straightened my hair this year yet, but I think I might in about a week or 2. When I pull my hair down the longest strands reach tailbone, but it's not full tailbone yet. More important to me is where the hair actually hangs. I'm trying to remember where it used to hang last year (when straightened), but I dont really remember; I wish fotki would hurry up and put those pictures back online :)

I am! I've trimmed off a total of 7 inches this year so far to thicken up my ends. I trimmed about 5.5 inches myself over a period of 6 months, and my mom did 1.5 for me earlier this year in february. The back half of my hair is starting to look a lot better but the front half still needs a lot of work. I'm still at tailbone though, but I find myself starting to get scissor happy lately (weird since I used to be so scared of em). I don't ever use heat and I've been transitioning to texlaxing (before I take the natural plunge) so I usually only keep track of my length while my hair is wet and weighted down by water. I'll post pics later.

Old length checks. Left pic is a couple months after I started seriously paying attention to my hair and actually taking care of it. Right pic is a year later before my self trims, right before I decided I really wanted to thicken up my ends and stop being afraid of scissors.

Last "length check" on freshly washed wet hair. 10-30-2013. This is after all the trims.
