Ok I've never had to ask this before, but, I am fortunate enough to be visiting Hawaii soon Tongue and I'd like to think about maybe taking a swim.  Not planning to be being underwater a lot or anything or swimming strenously a bunch, but more than dipping in my toes, you know?  So, I am wondering if I should a) wear an older human hair wig, or b) purchase an inexpensive synthetic wig to swim in.  I'd probably wear a scarf or something over it afterwards, so it's ok if the wig looks a little ratty after, but I want something that could survive a dip or two in salt water.  What do you water babies here do?  Human or synthetic?   TIA!

I don't really do ocean (even though I can see it from my window), but I do pool parties! I usually just go with whatever wavy unit is in my rotation that way if it gets wet it looks "beachy". Afterwards just wash and deep con.

I would definitely say human hair. Even if it doesn't stay as pretty as you would like it, it's still human hair. Synthetic hair might matte up randomly, or do something unexpected that you may not be able to fix.

I remember a couple of years ago there was a thread about lace wigs and watermarks I faintly remember tips about wearing a headband (for extra security) and wearing the hair in a braid or bun..I really want to say its in the never ending Tmm thread...

I have wore my old Chinese virgin unit for swimming in the sea this summer, after 15 day my old chinese unit was still ok.
I have washed it every evening with water and deep conditioner (Joico K-Pak Conditioner For Damaged Hair ), and I have used shampoo only every 4 days

Take human hair but take lots of conditioner and a paddle brush. I was in the water the whole time on my trip to St. Thomas and I had to rinse the salt water out and detangle my curls every night which took forever and a day. But I had fresh popping curls/waves every morning.

I went scuba diving and snorkeling with my wig and never had a issue.

Thanks for all the feedback!  OK human it is.  I have a CVR I don't love that I'll use, for sure I'll use 'extra security measures' and rinse, rinse, rinse.
