You may encounter Students with disabilities once you obatain your Teaching Degree . I would try to work with disable children to prepare before you finish school . You will meet children that are so kind . I think many are angels on earth .

Working with a disabled student (I work with a couple) and caring for a disabled family member are two wildly different things. Since I was very young, I have helped my mother (who is disabled) in ways other children didn't have to help with their parents. Even though I COULD care for a child that was disabled IF I had the financial resources, I wouldn't want to.

i think what india meant is that her point of view might be dangerous in that workplace 'survival of the fittest'.

Well, in that case, I agree only in the case of being a teacher and working with students with disabilities. In that case, you strive to bring out the very best in them...and some kids will surprise you. Speaking of which, it's lunch time now, so I have to go and get my naughty kids for Friday Lunch Bunch...

To the bolded:
No parent sets out to have a special needs child. You could have perfectly fine sonograms, and all your prenatal tests be fine...then the delivery goes wrong and your child is harmed.
Or one day your kid falls the wrong way and hits his head...or he/she has severe schizophrenia that worsens despite the medications...
No parent wants/desires their child to be "special". It happens and you deal with it.
You can't just acquit. If anything God gives you the strength to be a fighter, and be an advocate for your child.

really? how? |
not sure if serious. personally, i have no problems with anyone going this route...
i just have a hard time with so called bible thumpers picking and choosing when man should intervene when it comes to life and death as well as when said situations are to be considered what God intended...
