so my little brother got into a car accident 7 weeks ago, a 2010 bmw m3 ran a stop sign and hit his vehicle. the police came, determined the other driver was at fault, there was also multiple witnesses. the person who was behind the wheel was not the owner of the vehicle.
as im told he is the son of the owner of the vehicle. my brother is 25, the guy that hit him is 19.
my brother against my advice hired these guys, and was referred to a lawyer
anyway, my brother has pip coverage and his car was a total loss. the lawyers filed a claim on behalf of my brother, and the m3 insurance company says that the kid that hit my brother isnt on his fathers policy, although he lives in the home, and say they arent responsible for damages
does that sound accurate ? if someone drives your car, and they arent on your policy and you hit someone, your insurance isnt responsible ? they are now in the process of suing the kid on the basis that his father is loaded. i dont think they gonna get a dollar from a broke college kid, but hopefully im wrong.
