Why is it that you have to pay back money given to you for an education.

But former welfare recipients don't have to pay a dime of anything back.

They should make those on any type of welfare pay back at least a portion of what they received after they are done along with those paying back student loans.

This country seems to favor those who have messed up more than those trying

Most stay on gov assistance of some type though and never make it out of the lower class to be able to pay anything back.

True.

Are you really able to stay on it for life though?

If so......... _______/\____
Not welfare itself, at least in ny, but they will still get Medicaid and food stamps. Some programs sadly make u want to stay broke and thats what the workers for these programs would try to get u to do. Medicaid sadly is the best insurance around Confused

...i fear for the future...
So do I. You want to get a good job to psy for everything and get good insurance like Blue Cross, but then u pay so much for services with Blue Cross that you wonder if you were just better off with Medicaid, where the most you pay for drugs is $1. I remember my mom paid $50 for a prescription only to find out that it was the same generic  Benadryl that she paid <$10 for at  BJ's

yup.  my boy get's hot everytime he look at his check and his medical bills.  he always sucks his teeth and says that he was living better as an illegal.LOL

@binky.  i'm really thinking on that.  i'm trying to find the show again.  I was at work when I listened to it.  It was 8 hours because she did the show and then dude called back and they continued it the next day.  She gave alot of information. She was saying to trade your debt notes (money) for securities.  Gave information on what u need to do sign up with the SEC and trade with stock in your "corporation".

it was alot....but she gave u clear information on how to start.  i'm mad that i didn't save the link to the show.

SMH Scorpio. Plus I hate that with alot of jobs when you get insurance through them you have to wait so and so amount of months for the insurance to kick in for you to even be able to use it. WTF happens in the mean time between time if you need to go to the doctor?
Alot of people that have insurance dont go to the doctor bc it costs too much (copays) and then the insurance doesnt even cover anesthesia needed during surgery. Discount on the surgery, anesthesia is out of pocket. Confused

SMDH. Luckily I have good insurance. I never got insurance through my job because they wanted you to pay for the insurance out of each check yet you had to wait until you were there for like a year or something before you could even use it. Don't see a point in paying for some sh*t I can't even use in the event that I do need to go to the doctor or the hospital. Sleepy
They can use it, just opt not to. Im talking about the normal good ones like Blue Cross, I remember seeing my mom's bill after knee surgery Confused

I know what you're talking about. I'm just speaking about my job specifically. The insurance they provide is Blue Cross now that I think about it yet don't give people who are paying for it the information until after a year of working there. That's just the job I work at being stupid with giving people their insurance stuff it's not because people aren't choosing to use it. They can't use it if the job isn't giving them their insurance information to use in the first place. They even told us that for people who get insurance through the job that the job "supposedly" can't give them the insurance information until after they've been working there and paying for it for a certain amount of time.
O Censored no!

Im actually surprised that I dont have more student loan debt, it's actually half of what I initially thought. Hopefully I can get a scholarship for next year so I wont have to take one out for my senior year. Grad school is a  whole 'nother story, thoughCry

If I could rewind time. I would never have taken out a single loan. Not one penny. I would have chosen a more affordable school/major.
