whats the rules on deferring student loans now? | So many bc there's penalties for it, if u get it deferred or consolidate it, you cant get tuition reimbursement or apply for other programs sometimes.

also, was wondering how long you have after ending school to start paying back and how many hours are needed/semester to stay in the don't have to start paying back zone...

I'm at this point in my life where I'm just DONE with school. I'm tired of the hustle. I'm in my final semester and it seems like I lack the motivation to do anything. Now my parents are salty cuz I don't wanna walk for graduation...whatev
I have friends going for their masters and I just can't see myself going to school for so many years in my life lol.
I'd rather just take a few classes here and there that would teach me a skill.

Supposedly you have to be in school atleast part time in order to not have to worry about it. Key word SUPPOSEDLY since I'm only in school time right now and Sallie Mae has been sending me letters about paying them back since this time last year SMDH.

Why is it that you have to pay back money given to you for an education.
But former welfare recipients don't have to pay a dime of anything back.
They should make those on any type of welfare pay back at least a portion of what they received after they are done along with those paying back student loans.
This country seems to favor those who have messed up more than those trying
|
Most stay on gov assistance of some type though and never make it out of the lower class to be able to pay anything back.

ppl keep talking about careers in IT are the way to go, not in a few more years the career will be saturated a good indication is the fact that you see the for profit institutions pushing education. the newest bright wave to look towards is renewable energy careers |
my mother shot me an email yesterday tellin' me that very same thing. |
Obama has been pushing it and you know its still on the qt because you don't see schools advertising it. you can get your MBA and specialize in that

And then you get into deep debt trying to better yourself, but you can't get a job because you didn't pass the credit check. If you didn't have to pay so much for school your credit might actually be decent, smh. |
Yup, you dont get the job bc of debt but u stay in debt bc u cant get a job. Its a lose-lose scenario

I'm trying to find a job with tuition reimbursement. At this point, I honestly think that I'd be stupid to take out anymore school loans. People constantly say "Oh student loans are just like any other bill" Ummmm nah if your wages can be garnished then it isn't. Then also think about interest and late fees on a 50k loan.
|
I wish the jobs I did have that had tuition reimbursement covered for what I'm studying. I hate that they only covered tuition if you were studying fields somewhat related to the job I was working for and what I'm studying wasn't one of those fields unfortunately. |
My job has that and you do have to take something related to your job. I guess they said they ain't payin' for your education n'sh*t so u can leave and get something better elsewhere.

I think we care less about loans because we are raised on certain practices. Niccas been living check to check & robbin peter to pay paul for decades. To old black folks it's like what's another bill? I seriously think thats where loan apathy stems from.
