Yeah that's niccas for you. You have all these kin folks who have bright ideas about your education but not gonna help you financially. Never once did anybody ask me if I needed help paying for my books, classes, but they feel compelled to give input on what I needed to study & where I needed to go to school.

Pretty much. Hell, if I didn't have my own income to use to buy books and pay tuition and the likes I probably would've been dropped out of school already from not being able to afford it. Makes me glad I didn't run off to some of the schools I got accepted into when I first started applying to colleges because I would've been SOL looking stupid because I didn't have money to pay for school with family yapping in my ear about why I didn't stay in school.

That's the worst feeling ever. It's non stop chatter about how you aren't going to succeed, blah blah blah. I'm over it.

whats the rules on deferring student loans now? |
So many bc there's penalties for it, if u get it deferred or consolidate it, you cant get tuition reimbursement or apply for other programs sometimes.

We need more threads like this on pressing matters. Nice to see BHM come together about shared experiences.

girl and SHOW OUT AT HER GRADUATION! Her father is tooting that his daughters are all doctors and lawyers and that one son has a phd but where is he when she sends an email saying i need money to live on while studying for the bar? |
As much as colored folk love talking about togetherness you'd think they do more to help the young college kids be successful.

Girl! And the ones who don't do ish to help pay for school be the first ones with their hands out begging for money.
The same grandmother telling me I needed to go to school in NY has yet to help me with school yet has been quick to tell me that when I get into my field and start making money I have to buy her a house. I sure buying a house for myself will be the last thing on my mind for a while depending on how much debt I have to worry about paying off.

Why is it that you have to pay back money given to you for an education.
But former welfare recipients don't have to pay a dime of anything back.
They should make those on any type of welfare pay back at least a portion of what they received after they are done along with those paying back student loans.
This country seems to favor those who have messed up more than those trying
