I love the show! I don't see how it "glorifies" adultery. If anything it shows how messy it is!
On the flip side I like the fact that its also an interracial love story with a Black woman for a change. Hollywood doesn't mind showing our men with every other woman except us.
I do think Harrison is a fine looking older man...so O's got choices here. Good for her.

You're right G, we probably would. But it's really about principle here. It's like people are sickened by the fact its a black woman and a white man. We get told we are too sensitive when we complain about it not being enough sistas in music videos and xyz but now that Scandal is out folks are crying crocodile tears saying black women are sympathizing with Kerry Washington being some white mans jumpoff.

If the show was 100% positive, niccas would say it was unrealistic.
| Thanks for being the voice of reason.
When centuries ago whites wanted a monument of the "Mammy" caricature in DC of all places blacks stood up for themselves.
But today when black women are portrayed as modern day slave whores, everybody is like, "so?".
regardless
of the fact that Michelle Obama herself spit in they eyes of racists
with her WH portrait in front of a portrait of the rapist Thomas
Jefferson who himself admitted there is no beauty in black women but had
children by a black women but sold them as slaves.
Scandal only propagates this mindest and its sad that today's black women are complicit in the white an's narrative. |
But it's written AND produced by a black woman...

This is laughable. Blacks can and almost are always victim and
perpetrators or racism. Shandra is like Oprah IMO. She lucked up and is
in a position of incredible power. So why would she defend her race or
sex? She has to be selfish in order to help in the long run. And
again, she has admitted that although the show is realistic it is not
factual. But everyone knows that tv imagery of blacks, hispanics,
midddle easterners, and asians will be considered factual even if it
isn't authentic.

I don't see the slave imagery or the mammy archetype in the show....
Hell she's like the ring leader. She's got loyal followers that would kill for her and defend her, a man that wants to put a ring on it, and a man that would wax it all over the oval office...

I think Shonda is more talented than she is "lucky". If she was a one trick pony maybe Id say yeah she got lucky but she has been pretty consistent. Im not gonna knock that at all.

Are you kidding me? She has embodied black slavery in film! God if one can't recognize this now, it doesn't matter what I present, modern day slaves with counter it.

Shondra is not lucky. stop trying to diminish what that black woman has accomplished bc you disagree with her portrayal of ONE black character [out of the myriad that she has had]. Most of her shows feature some sort of interracial and gay couple.
