I think if you have limitations then we should only be at a restaurant that fits your limitations though. If you only have denny's money, then don't take me to brunch at belvedere's and expect me to only order toast and tea.

but two people can eat for $25 a piece at cheesecake factory...unless someone wants to throw a wrench in things by ordering the $30 filet mignon entree.

kind of off topic I remembering going out with a group and it was time to pay we were like okay are we going to split the check by couple or do all on one and pay cash to whoever puts in on their card they wanted to split the check b/c of the auto tip auto tip is like 15%....weren't you gonna tip 15% (to 20%) anyway?

You usually take your cue for price range from the person paying
But at a certain point just get what you want and pay if there's an issue, if you don't want to deal with uncertainty and walking on eggshells just to eat, don't see him anymore
sometimes if you can't relate you shouldn't bothering trying

i agree with this. when i'd go on dates i always ordered what i wanted and if it was a problem it was whatever b/c i had my own money...i just dont normally want the most pricey thing anyway. this came to mind because i've taken my cousins and little sis out to a treated dinner and i always tell them their cap. i guess b/c it's my family idaf and i know they'll go ham if i don't....if it's a date situation how can a guy tell you not to spend too much.

Honesty is the best policy, IMO. If he looks bad, meh, keep it moving.
He should say that he's on a budget but "I'd love to take you out and get to know you."
If she agrees, proceed to a cost-effective, but fun, restaurant and hope that she abides. If, throughout the date, she gets something beyond his means, then he should apologize, tell her that he can't afford it, apologize, potentially take the L, and see what happens.
That's what dating is all about!

30 bucks is doable .
I went out to a nice little trendy spot with a younger older lady and I only spent 26 bucks.
we ate well.
a high price tag is not always an indication of quality |
