The thread about living at home got me thinking: free rent and utilities is a beautiful thing!!! It's expensive out here, especially if you're in a big city.

Where you live, what is market rent for a decent 1 bed room apartment? And by decent I mean clean, the landlord does his/her job, no drug deals on your front step, etc.

Are you at, above, or below market rent?
What, if any, amenities do you have?
And any apartment finding tips for those that will soon be kicked out of their mama's house and will need to find a home? lol

I live in Chicago now and rent for a decent 1 bed is about $1000.

I found one below market rate including utilities with new appliances and a good landlord. I honestly only think its the power of prayer cuz sheeeeeeeeesh....

NC...1 BR + sunroom = $600

Tennis court, swimming pool, no drug deals, the maintenance ppl are awesome.

In my area, I've seen 1 br's for as low at $315 and as high as $720.

Where I live, the cheapest apt I could find was a studio for $1200. Water and garbage was free. No gym, pool or gate.

The 1 bedrooms are anywhere from $1500 to $4k. I live near the Silicon Valley, so ppl can afford it.

My tip is to find a roommate. It's better to reply to posted ads at the local community college than on craigslist.

Good thread.

In most north texas suburbs you could find a decent 1 bedroom in the 600's

A good one will cost you 700+
