I think critics were going to eat up this movie regardless. It's like voting for Obama to get over the white guilt. That said, I don't think it's bad. Just side eye critics walking away from it claiming masterpiece.

I like QT and spike lee.. but this movie was cool, but lacked too much human emotion. I couldn't really empathize with Django, it just seemed like a story was to be told not a story to be shared. Too much gun violence not enough dialogue btw the black people. However I'm thinking that the white slave masters wouldn't want blacks to speak anyway, so I can see why it was like that in the movie. Kerry barely spoke, all she did was cry, but then again could black women speak and hold conversations like a privileged white woman. I really want to know more about the Mandigo fighting and where this word came from, and why it is used as a compliment in modern times. Or are they similar to the gladiators that were used before the fall of Rome?
