explain the lottery scam
I call you telling you that youve won the lottery/sweepstakes/contest and in order to claim the prixe you have to pay $$$ processing fee, taxes, admin fees etc. YOu send me the cash through wire transfer etc etc (Last year western Union in the western part of the island SHUT IT's DOORS for a weeka nd when they re-opened you could only get $200 USD, it was that bad! The economy relies on legitimate remittances as you may know)
How does it work? the call list/info come from the millions of call centres/3rd parties your_____s sell your info to . It's easy to set up, the list, a laptop, a cell phone (we have really cheap N.America intl rates) OR VOIP - magic jack and the like. It's a very mobile setup too easy to pack up and move
Why do victims get got? American are used to the idea of winning stuff, been solicited fro stuff over the phone etc The elderly are serious targets. I remember one American saying her mom used to curse at them saying they're evil for not wantign her to collect their prize and she had to go to the banks and WUnion and beg them not to process her mom's money
Why do they keep sending the money? Yardies seem to be damn good at convincing and sweet talking ppl BUT after a while they get threatened (ever hear a booming yardie voice chipping claats? PLUS they know where you live where you shop etc from the call list)
Why did it start? The USA removed the major drug kingpins in MoBay, leaving an economic vacuum for poor uneducated youth (that doesnt excuse anyone) and then strange enough it was the gays that started it. So low and behold the Homosexual Jamaican Don was born, that in itself just mind-blowing. What part of donmanship is that? But money talks so.....
What was the community (not the island just those areas where it was thriving) response? 1) it doesnt hurt anyone (live savings up in smoke) 2) its reparations (yes i said reparations). Hell bounty killah went on stage and bigged up a certain gang and got so much heat for it! Vybz Kartel did a pro-scamming song and that ish was banned so quickly
another DJ was a scammer before he was an entertainer and they just arrested and charge him about 2 months ago (phucker!) he's on bail, interestingly a small island denied him entry and deported him (we Cbn passport holdrs, are supposed to have free movement in most island) and he's brought a case in the Caribbean Court (very smart move)
How were these ninjas living? BIG PIMPIN' Style out in the open too.
oooooo those ninjas were ballingggggggg burning money just like the drug dons of yesteryears, cars, homes, parties. 12 year old boy with big big raas house and cars. The thing is it was so much money it was hard to "wash" some tried to hide it in relatives names, but how you goona construct a 3 bedroom house in 6 months and your neighbours live in matchboxes?
What happened? Well the more money you make the more problems you get, so they had to defend their ill gotten gain and they started buying guns and gunmen and mobay crime got wicked. I think the cops said 4/5 murders were linked to the lottery scam. Mobay cops were running all around the ghettoes of mobay trying to stop it they had so many changes of head of the division
When we started to crack down wheeeeeeeee they started dropping expensive cars like flies, and downgraded to toyotas and Hondas making the banks come back for them, the repossessed cars at the bank auctions were NICEEEEEE you could always tell a "scamma" car from a reg. person's
How much money? BILLIONS. this single gay don "bebe" amassed a billion Jamaican dollars so at the time exchange rate 1:85.
