Soften Braid Hair before install

Hey ladies. It's been a while since I have posted but I am wondering if it is possible to soften marley braid hair before installing? I am going to be doing some twists today and would really like to soften the hair before installing. Do you divas have any tips for this?? I'm not sure if this hair can be washed or conditioned, as I have never used it before. When I deep condition wefted hair before installing I usually slather it in VO5 conditioner and place it under a dryer or in the microwave  Can the same method be used for the marley braid hair?? TIA
