I have a close friend who tells me all our mutual and her own friends business. I do side eye her. I have actually stopped telling her stuff that I wouldn't want anyone else knowing. Problem is, that is not exactly a friendship if you can't tell your friend private stuff. If I wanted to talk about the weather, I would so with a colleague. |
This! If a friend can't keep her mouth shut about the most simple things then she is not trustworthy.

I can have fun without drugs and alcohol but what's wrong with drinking every now and again?

If they talk about others then I know they are not trustworthy,
especially if they can easily say nasty things about their own family or
spouse.

If I notice they gossip too much, can't genuinely be happy for other ppl or are irresponsible with their own money, I know not to tell them my business or loan them money.

Do they keep their word? Do they know how to have fun without drugs, alcohol, sex or slander? Do they talk out their neck? I tend not to trust people who talk terribly about their families *shrugs* |

honestly, there are people who you trust for years and believe that they are trustworthy people and then you will find out down the road that you couldn't trust them at all. I say use your gut, use your better judgement. If something doesn't seem or feel right, be watchful of that person.

A bunch of small 'tests'. It's never the same things but if time and again I can see that someone won't try do anything vile with me, then they'll eventually gain my trust.
