I mean in a sense soldiers earn their GI bill though. They gave time to the military.

scholarship money is still coming from somewhere. i've earned scholarships as well. it's still not YOU paying...the only difference is you're saying it's okay to get free money as long as it's not coming from the government...better to come from a corporation who is only trying to get a tax break or elsewhere?
aren't some scholarships state based aka gov based as well? |
i never said i came out of pocket for school. the government shouldn't assume every role of private entities. i do think its okay to get money to pay you're tuition. i think its a great system for those that are underprivileged. if the gov't tried to give me more money, i'd see it as wasteful.
in FL the state based scholarship are from the lottery. im talking about the federal gov't. the states are barely doing anything to help aid schools, and thats just another problem.

ok...but i'd be interested to hear what you think a good alternative plan would be? and we've already tried the no financial aid secondary school route...per history. |
@SL. you're not speaking to an out of touch republican (maybe you see it that way)
i do understand where they are coming from.
i think its all in k-12 education. thats where you foster a great nation and an educated public. |
ok...that's generally paid for by tax payers...unless you are advocating totally privatizing k-12.
but go on... |
Lol what? i've stated that i think that people should pay taxes.
again, its about how the gov't is spending that money. it would be better spent on k-12 education.
they have to be efficient.
