its a hyperbole wonderland.

Do you have 10,000 a semester? How do you suppose
a student will pay for higher edu?

That was definitely an extreme hyperbole bc no one is getting anywhere near that much unless they're taking out private loans which is not even close to a handout and not easily obtained. What u get in pell and fed loans is just enough to cover what you'll be spending on books, transportation to and from school and food so where is all this extra money u speak of?

But I actually don't mind paying taxes...I was one of the people that voted to add extra taxes in november so we can try to balance our budget here in california. I just don't want the money wasted.

I actually would want a federal living wage to be established (along with public health care and really comprehensive public transportation system) and then there would be almost no need for these types of programs in the first place. And I'd pay more taxes to make that happen.

I don't mind taxes but a federal living wage is tricky bc of the cost of living differs across the regions
I guess there could be a baseline ?

In an ideal world the federal minimum wage would be a living wage. Just as now, it's the baseline and the states can go higher if they want to...but they can't go lower.

Basically, just raise the federal minimum wage to a living wage. Nowhere in the U.S. is it possible to live on 7.80/hr. Maybe it would be possible if we also had public health care and housing subsidies for every one.

But there definitely needs to be a baseline and last I read it should be at least 12$/hr.

Most did not think like this before then, Raegan raised taxes like a MOFO.Just partisan economic theory being regurgitated by blacks who want to seem "enlightened."

it goes back further than the 90 and you do know that it was the unions who pushed for that legislation, right? not a politician but unions for the sole purpose of justifying higher wages for the top earners. and  but according to you, it's not true. ok then.

are you still talking about the minimum wage?

If tuition is 12k you still have books, food, room & board, transportation and fees to pay for Flow.

but the full package that you can get from loans, gov't grants, school grants can Sang.

i know students at state schools who get more loans than needed even their tuition is at about 5k.

lets not forget that students might get school grants (which some schools match the amount of pell grant). with all of this assistance, it really is an issue that students choose to go that route.
You gave an analogy of student taking out 24k for 12k in tuition. That is highly unlikely because student would not last to year 4 doing that and most Financial aid counselors would let them know this. Also students with scholarships do have grants refunded to the government I was awarded a scholarship that covered my entire final year of college and I had a state commuter grant that was sent back to NY state.

My cousin had to take out an enormous loan for law school it shocked my system to hear it.
But she is smart and she just finished .
I think she has the hustle to flip it and it not be a huge detriment to her heck she might even find a way to get it paid for her.

My sister who went to undergradl for art and made the mistake of taking out big loans at an expensive school isn't saddled by It at all.
She's definitely not living paycheck to paycheck and an employer paid a big portion of it for her.Off top.
And is paying for her masters. She's actually working in e field she studied in

There are ways , just have to hustle to find your way out of a bad situation

they have to pay it back.  if they ever work then they have to pay it back.  it cannot be discharged in bankruptcy either...

how many 40 yr olds do you know that still have bills from school loans?
a lot. paying interest on a 50,000 bill isn't optimal.
