I was going to do my own thread but I thought it would be appropriate to post here.
Ok so my co-worker and I decided to order hair in bulk from Sheena’s Hair Emporium last week. This is my coworkers first time with “quality”weave that doesn’t cost less than $50/bundle/pack. I have used Indique, Extensions Plus, Halley’s Curls and some other beauty supply brands. So maybe my background has me spoiled? I was very skeptical as most reviews that we saw were from people who received their hair for free. Long story short, we decided to take the jump and hope for the best. However the best is not what arrived yesterday... And I wasn’t expecting the best hair in the world either but I was definitely expecting something better. But anyway on to my first thoughts on the hair…
I ordered a 16” Indian Curly closure, and one 18” bundle, 20”bundle, 24” inch bundle, 26” bundle.
First, the hair is advertised as virgin hair and it is NOT VIRGIN hair! Anyone who buys it and thinks it is obviously knows nothing about virgin hair. The hair was all uniform in curl and it was cut straight across. When I spoke to Sheena about this last night, she explained that the hair is steamed to achieve the curls. Yet she states on her Instagram that the hair is in its “natural state”.
Secondly, the hair was sent while still damp, which everyone knows is a BIG NO-NO!! As a result, the hair smells moldy and HORRIBLE! I co washed it twice to try to get the smell out but nothing yet. I will have to try something stronger if I do end up installing it anyway.
Third, the bundles are SO SMALL!! Sheena said that she weighs it to be between 3.2-4 ounces. I don’t have a scale and I should possibly invest in one for future purchases, but I compared the 18 inch Sheena bundle with my Indique curly 18 inch bundle that comes in 4 ounces and there is no way that the hair could be the same weight.
Finally, the presentation and packaging of Sheena’s Hair was just cheap looking. Between the two of us we ordered 10 bundles and 3 closures and the box was around 5x5. Sheena’s explanation was that she wanted to save us postage.
Overall, the hair that I received was not worth MY $600. And I even received my closure for free. So it’s supposed to be valued even higher. I cannot get a refund and I see no point in exchanging because my issues will most likely be the same with any exchange. So at this point I am trying to decide whether I want to try to sell the hair to someone who doesn’t mind the things that are not ok with me or if I should go ahead and still install it.
Now for the good- I will say that the hair does feel lovely. It’s nice and soft but unfortunately the softness cannot overpower all the other negatives, for me. Sheena does seem like a very nice person and you can feel the Southern hospitality in her voice. Her customer service is nice even though the ordering process could be more efficient. (You have to send e-mails and leave voice messages to then in turn get a phone call back.) I hope this can help anyone else who is interested in buying hair from her. I'm going to attempt to attach pictures next post.
