    Posted: Jun 27 2013 at 7:55am
I purchased a box last night of this color. I did the color test on my arm.. doesn't seem to be any issue and the hair strand test I did, I could not really tell a difference on my dark brown hair. Maybe I didn't apply enough mixture to the hair. This will be my first time every perm. dying my hair. Last henna treatment I applied was back in september-ish.

1. Anyone had any issues with porosity and dying hair? Everytime I wash my hair, my natural hair seems to dry really quick. It's not soaking wet, i blot it a few times with my towel or shirt and after about 10 mins its just damp.
...
2. Anyone tried this coloring system and color? I wanted a light brown/honey look. I figured this would work, instead of the dark golden actually turning my head completely blonde.

3. I last product Tuesday night, after a swimming lesson in a pool.

Any tips, pictures, suggestions for me would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

Don't you have to bleach dark hair first before dying it lighter?

Nope. Only if you're trying to get a bright color, like bright red, blue, etc.

You can get a lighter color w/ a permanent box dye w/o bleaching it first.

You don't have to lift the color first? Either with bleach or just developer? How can you go from black/dark brown to a light brown without lightening the hair first?

It depends on how many levels you are trying to lift. So no. You don't HAVE to bleach but you can for faster results. If you don't want to bleach wait 3-4 weeks, doing dc's weekly then try again just using the color

OP, this blogger did a review on the coloring system (although she was aiming for black)

I have a lighter permanent color without bleach. She may have lifted it but there was no bleach involved. It's possible

That's what I was saying. You can't go from dark to light without lifting the dark color. Either with bleach or just developer.

My hair was very dark brown/black. I used the Dark Brown on the roots and Bright Auburn on my ends. I loved it. You could definitely see the color change but it wasn't an outrageous rich color. It ended up looking like a plum color and left my hair feeling soft.
 Covered my grays too!
