I am making my dad a quilt for Christmas. Using youtube and google to teach myself from the ground up. Does anyone else sew? What machine do you use? What are you working on?

UnhappyI have an electronic Bernina sewing machine I paid over 400.00 for and only used it a few times.

School and life took over.

I want to use it for sure and sew skirts/tops mostly with ankara and various African pattern materials.

I learned how to sew when I was in H.S. (Fashion Industries Cool)

Its not hard, just threading your machine can be annoying.

The best machines are the old ones (Singer).

They have a few machines on Amazon that you can get...

This was when I just had the pieces laid out.

I basted yesterday and started the actual quilting last night. I think I can get addicted to this. It does cost a lot to get all of the right tools that you need. Thank God for Hancock and Joann's fabric 40 and 50 percent off coupons. I feel so accomplished. There is so much to learn but I am going to keep at it. All these different presser feet and rulers are killing me. I want to try my hand at a dress next.

my mom used to make us quilts using our old clothes that she wanted to save. We used to help her out but I don't think I'd have the patience to make one. It fun quilting in a group though.
