#15 Get Regular Massages

Massages reduce your anxiety levels, blood pressure and heart rate. People with low levels have better immunity.

The key to a healing massage is pressure. Tell your masseur that there's no need to be gentle. Get enough pressure to indent your skin, but don't press so hard that it hurts. Pain raises your stress levels instead of lowering them.

The more often you get massages the better. Every time you lay on the table, you give your immunity a boost.

#14 Take Up the Drums

Banging on the drums gives you an immune boost. Studies have shown that drummers have more immune system boosters than non-drummers!

Researchers think it has something to do with the stimulating rhythms. But there has to be more too it. You get more of an immune boost from playing the drums than from listening to them.

You don't have to buy a drum set to get into it. Banging on a pot has the same effect as wailing on a drum set. Just get in a little drumming each day to keep the doctor away.

#13 Go Camping

New studies have revealed that the forest has healing powers. It's called "forest therapy" and it's the hottest new thing out of Japan.

They've done studies on it. And they found that men who spent at least six hours in the woods over the course of two days got an immune boost. The experience stimulates your body to produce "natural killer cells". The effects last up to 30 days.

Can't swing a once-a-month camping trip? Hang out in your local park. Even a little bit of time in nature is beneficial. You'll get an immune boost for every hour you spend out there.

#12 Do It

No one really needs an excuse to do the horizontal mambo. But there is a good one. Making love boosts your cold-fighting antibodies.

They discovered this in 1999 in what was probably the world's most enjoyable study. How much love do you have to make? One to two times a week is the minimum.

This discovery opens up a whole new world of pick up lines. "Hey baby, you want to help me prevent a cold?" You should definitely use that next cold and flu season.

#11 Dodge Germs

Know the best way to avoid germs? Dodge them. When you see germs headed your way, move.

It's just as simple as it sounds. When someone sneezes, turn your head. Keep it turned for 20 seconds. It takes around that long for the air to stop transmitting the virus. People may give you weird looks, but you'll laugh your way to a cold-free winter.

#10 Yogurt

Probiotic yogurt fills you full of healthy bacteria and crowds out the unhealthy stuff. Probiotic yogurt is full of healthy bacteria. The trick with bacteria is that your body only has room for so much.

Probiotic yogurt also gives you an immune boost. Studies prove that yogurt eaters who do manage to get sick only stay sick for half of the time.

Aim for two to three servings of yogurt per day. Don't like yogurt? Aged cheese does the trick. So does organic keffir.

#9 Gargle with Salt Water

We all know it soothes a sore throat. But gargling with salt water prevents colds too. Gargling with salt water eliminates bacteria and viruses in your throat.

Think someone sneezed on you? Add half a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water. Gargle it as soon as possible after you've been exposed. The virus won't be able to take hold and you'll get away Scott free. Sometimes it really is that easy.

#8 Jam On It

Turn on your favorite tunes. Music really does have healing power.

When you listen to music you love, you get an immune boost. It's the good feelings the music stirs up going to work.

Studies have already proved that positive thinking keeps you healthy. Good music keeps those positive vibes flowing.

For the best results, listen to uptempo music that really moves you. You'll dance your way to a powerful immune boost.

#7 Kiss Everyone

Kissing is a great way to boost your immunity. They call it swapping spit for a reason. When you do it, you share germs and boost your immunity.

Just don't start in cold and flu season. If you kiss someone with a cold, you're going to get sick. When two healthy people kiss, however, they make each other healthier.

The more people you kiss, the better. The idea is to expose yourself to small amounts of lots of different germs. Before summer's over, try a game of spin the bottle to prepare everyone for the winter months.

#6 Hit the Gym

Winter is exercise's off-season. But working out in cold and flu season increases your immunity.

It also lowers your levels of the stress hormone cortisol. We can't think of a better way to beat the winter blues.

Don't feel like getting to the gym in the snow? Pop in an exercise DVD. All you have to do is get your heart rate up. Your immune system will jump into overdrive and start fighting off illnesses.

#5 Don't Drink

Sometimes boosting immunity is about what you don't do. Abstaining from alcohol is a great way to keep from getting sick.

When you get tipsy, your immunity drops significantly. The alcohol impairs your white blood cells. Those impaired cells don't fight off diseases as well. The effects last up to 24 hours after you drink.

But you don't have to stay away from booze completely. Keep it to one drink or less and you'll be fine.

#4 Keep It Moist

Get a humidifier to add moisture to the air in your home. Viruses don't like moist air. Keep the air humid and they won't survive long.

Moist air works because it keeps the viruses from getting airborne. Instead of floating around the air, they fall to the ground. For the best results, keep the humidity level between 40 and 60 percent.

Humidifiers work best when someone in the house is already sick. The moist air will keep them from passing the virus around. Stick the humidifier and the sick person in the room together. They'll breathe easier and you won't get infected.

#3 Garlic

Forget oranges, buy garlic. Garlic is full of antioxidants that boost your immune system. That makes it totally worth the bad breath.

Garlic won't just help you stave off the common cold. It will also help you live longer. Studies show that it staves off cancer and boosts heart health.

For the best results, eat the garlic raw. Minced garlic is great in guacamole and salad dressing.

#2 Zinc

The common cold is a virus. Zinc keeps viruses from multiplying. Some doctors say it's better for you than vitamin C.

Zinc lozenges are the best way to go. Think you've been exposed to someone's cold? Pop a lozenge in.

Feel cold symptoms setting in already? Suck on three or four lozenges a day. Soon those bad feelings will blow over.

#1 Wash Your Hands

Know a compulsive hand washer? We're willing to bet he never gets sick.

You should wash your hands a lot too. It's one of the best ways to avoid ingesting germs. You can catch the flu, the common cold, E. coli and a range of other illnesses from hand contact.

But you have to wash the right way. Rub soap on your hands while you sing happy birthday. That's roughly 20 seconds -- the amount of time you need to kill germs.

I do most of those...but I also take Monavie MX which helps tremendously with keeping immunities up. I was getting sore throats every 3 months working in a high rise recirculated petrie dish air before I started taking it.
