| Lol what u think my parents are 80? My mom is 48. I was being sarcastic in my post. And they didn't become successful overnight. Oh trust me, we struggled. I just don't get why people say stuff like "I had kids young and I take care of them" well, um, aren't you supposed to?

So true about opportunities way back when. It used to be that once you graduated from HS you were ready for the local "good jobs" - mills, factories, trades. The workplace has changed so much since then.

The say doesn't say that a child born to teen parents won't graduate, it says they are more likely not to. But it's good to see she got her ish together though GED's are still looked at as less than diplomas even if you graduated early and did well on it.

I hate when people say ish like that. You don't deserve a gold star for doing what you are supposed to do. You were supposed to graduate high school whether or not you had a baby. You added that stress on your head and then you speak as though you accomplished some major feat. You don't deserve anymore credit for finishing than a person who just gets by. You put up your own road block so the struggle that comes along with that is your own problem. Now, if you graduate with honors, you should be lauded and not because you were able to do that despite being a young parent but because you did it. and People always want recognition for things they were supposed to do to begin with. That reminds me of a fundraiser I went to once. The guy who was originally chosen as a winner for the scholarship was replaced by another girl. They were both honor role students in their schools and had tremendous stories. The girl grew up homeless and lived in a van most nights and when her parents could afford it, they rent a motel room some weekends.. The guy had a child in sophomore year and had to raise his daughter, work and go to school and his mother could barely afford her children let alone the baby bills his baby added. The committe who voted on it decided that the girl was victim of circumstance while the boy(white by the way) created his own problem. Someone in the committee wasn't happy with the result and told his family and they tried to sue and say it was discrimination. The lawsuit didn't get far and he didn't get payed either.
