mine would dread after 2 weeks lol. if i even play in my hair and make a small braid, half the time i have to rip it off to get it out lmbo. i'd be scared. its a good idea if your texture permits. and i think texture also plays a part in whether it will dread easier loose or braided.

Hint taken. I’m removing my current set of threads next week then will give my hair a three week break before threading it for a minimum of 3 months. Once I’m re-threaded  I will be sure to put up the thread and update periodically with videos and photos.

mstinycurls, she simply hides it and plays up her twists bangs.

Lovelybrown, yeah, I believe moisture is the key and will make sure to step up my spritz game. :-)

Maysay1Thanks, those are some good ideas. I will make sure to remain vigilant through out my little experiment.

Thanks again everyone for your input!

i know that i can go with cornrows for about 3 months...washing regularly...i have not gone longer than that. i keep my twists in for about a month now...and the longest i have ever gone has been 5 weeks...but that is with me redoing the perimeter every 1-2 weeks to keep it looking fresh.  i could not imagine the frizz after 12 months....no amount of bangs could hide the hot mess my hair would be in terms of frizz at that point. lol

def keep us posted!

I'm 4a/4b and whether I'm wearing my own twists under a FLW or wearing braid extensions, About 3 months is the time when my hair would start to dread. It's really based on your growth rate IMO.

Heavy Rotation, will do!

Modelbusiness, I think 3 months maybe pushing it for me but will be sure to evaluate before surpassing that time frame.

Also consider how long you like to be 'away' from your hair and how often you like to change up your styles.  I had locs for YEARS, so I know versatility is there, but since I took them out I notice I like to just rake through my hair, add extensions, hair, etc.

I wouldn't try it (probably because I have hair ADD) but if you do post pics and let us know how it turns out!
