I don't know if this is a really stupid question, but I have only had my one of my units cut or fixed at a salon. I had it styled by the seller and the bangs were not what I wanted. The styled did her best to even them out. Ever since then I have been afraid to do anything to my units.
Currently I love the new unit I have and it needs to be tweaked to fit me more, but the texture is what I wanted. I really want bangs again, and I am asking how would a stylist cut the unit? Do I have to glue it on? Please note I am still trying to learn how to glue down units and still working on getting natural parts... I am waiting for spring break to go back to the same stylist I went to before, because I know she can cut give me what I wanted. I just need advice on what I need to do to prepare for the visit.

yuki yuki have you tried youtube...many of us cut our own wigs as a lot of stylists are too happy to cut off lace wig length...i like songbirddiva4life on how to cut layers and have cut layers into all my wigs now..she does it leaving the length in the front which i like...but it you want to continue to use a stylist hope you find a good one

I've experienced the same issue. The last time a "stylist" cut my wig, she didn't do exactly what I wanted. After that experience, I purchased a crea clip. You can google it. It's a tool to cut layers and bangs. If you are not comfortabe with using the crea clip, I would sew the wig in place. Be sure to sew it down exactly the way you would wear it. HTH.

If you don't want to do it yourself I would suggest you fnd a stylist that can cut wigs/weave...not all can. Its always good to wear the wig when getting a cut, especially bangs, so that it can be cut to your face. So learn to apply your wig before you go.
Make sure you and the stylist are clear on what you want and how you want it...be clear on style of bangs and the length of your bangs....find a picture and take it with you.

I have been using a method to layer my lfs for some time now. It's easy and WILL perserve your length. But bangs still escape me! So I don't even try anymore. If you do chose the salon route, F1 is right, a picture is worth a thousand words! And someone here once said that a salon that usually does white hair can cut bangs in straight styles, just because that is what they do the most. And that weave specialist tend to be "scissor happy" lol!

I agree with Peacefulone ....a salon that services a multi-cultural clientele usualy are best with cutting all hair types.
Peacefulone are you talking about stylist/weave specialists and them being "scissor happy"...

yes F1, that's what i heard, i have only had bangs cut several years ago, and that was at a mall super cuts, white stylist. but i have friends that said 2 inches cut can turn into 6 if you're not careful!

yup.......go to a salon with mixed clientele. I used to go to a salon that dealed with everything from Locs to goth girls with purple hair. The stylist's themselves where from everywhere...white, hispanic, asian, black.....
so IA. You have a better chance of finding a person that knows how to cut bangs and layers....and they always tole me (when I used to go) they wished more clients would bring pictures of the styles they wanted.

oh and yes....apply your unit when u go. u don't have to glue it if your still practicing that but at least pin it down really good. Let your stylist know that you have it pinned so they will be careful when combing or brushing. You want however they cut it to frame your face so it is imperative that you wear your unit when u have it done. I always applied my units before I went. It makes it easier for the stylist to do what u want and do it right.

I SAY THIS. I cut my own too but I'm a stylist as well. Taking a picture is the best thing to do. They all don't know how to cut wigs is true too, but if u do it urself make sure that it is on u or a wig block if you're comfortable. I will usually cut mine off and fine tune after its applied.
