TC what else have you used that didn't work? I've used Chap Stick, Carmex, Burts Bees (which is nothing but wax), and I'm currently using Blistex. They all last a short period of time and I'm right back to biting, sometimes until I bleed.

i've used all of those you mentioned and like you experience they only last for a short period.
aquaphor which is cheap and readily availible i have been using for the past couple of years. there was this other higher end brand (can't think of the name now) that my mother gave me and it really worked too. all i can remember is it came in a green tube with black writing and it had a pepperminty flavor. i stopped using it when i ran out and was too lazy to replace it... |
is it a lil on the expensive side? I think my bff uses the same kind and she loves it but its like $10 a tube. Dont recall the name of it but i think she would get it from BBW

yes! and it has a whole lot of teeny tiny black writing on it....or maybe i'm just old and can't see...

That's C.O. Bigelow (sp) you can get it at Bath & Body Works. It's a bit pricy but is nice. Just make sure you get the light green tube & don't get the one that's a dark green color. The menthol content is higher & it actually burns when you put it on.

I had a friend like this in
college. she had to use a special medicated lotion for extra dry
hands.its a condition, forgot what it was called. but the lotion was in a
white bottle.
try that and then also try vaseline and perhaps putting plastic wrap or gloves on with the vaseline. |
I
was going to say this - not the medicine but gloves and vaseline. If
you have super dry hands - to the point where your hands are rough - you
gotta get back to basics. Every night get some of those gloves you can
buy at a dollar store (white cotton ones) and slather - yes I do mean
SLATHER - on a generous layer of vaseline and wear them to bed. Do this
consistently.
Also:
Are you drinking enough water?
Are
you wearing gloves in cold weather? I know a lot of ppl like to act
like they don't feel the cold, and end up running around with hands that
look like a work man's hands - and I should know my grandfather did
construction - he had ROUGH hands.
What are you doing? Are you
doing things that leave your hands open to getting scratches &
abrasions? It sounds silly but you may not "work with your hands" but if
you're not wearing gloves when washing dishes, etc etc plus not putting
on enough lotion, it'll be no different than the construction worker.

No I live on an Island the only type of winter we experience are cool breezes for right now lol and my hands are just genetically like this my mom and dad both have dry hands. I was wondering could i use socks if I dont have the gloves?

@Khadi
Sure you can use socks :) Just make sure the fabrick won't suck the
moisture out of the vaseline. The goal is to wake up with your hands
feeling moisturized.
Also try gold bond lotion. They recently
(or maybe it's new to me) created a version for people with EXTREMELY
dry and cracked hands. You should be able to get it at your local drug store.
