I remember my ex told me about this movie and said that I should watch it. We aren't American but he did warn me "Be prepared to hate white people for a while after seeing it"...
Hate is a strong word but I was mad for a few days.

Fiddla didn't smoke so and I know they didn't have dental plans back then but I'm sure slaves teeth weren't the color of bark. Chaka Zulu's teeth were pearly white

I vaguely remember  chaka zulu, but I remember liking it.  The actor died in a mental institution?  let me google thatCry John Amos was a great actor.  Always loved his flims.

saw it in high school. it did have an impact back then,  i didn't hate white people though, I just thought it was kind of, well mild, compared to the time spent on the holocaust lessons.  now that was what made me strongly distrust white people.  who does that to their own people? they were all white to me.  I dont dislike white folks, but then again, i dont like most people, regardless of race, nationality or ethnicity.

This was way more realistic than Roots.

Never watched it all the way through. I read a lot of the book though, I own it. So maybe, I'll get to it one of these days.
