I can pay my bills fine but I really want to save. I hate renting an apartment. I want my own house and a bigger savings. That's why I had two jobs for the past 6 months. I do not mind not sleeping as much but I just wasn't happy at b of a. So now I am looking elsewhere....this sucks.

Morena, first, I commend you for not wanting to test on animalsClap
Second, have you tried to just create natural cosmetics? Those are the ones that wouldn't require animal testing because they are 100% pure, but since you have a BS in biochemistry, you should know the least harmful unnatural ingredients that wouldn't require extensive testing (or animal testing) to know that is safe for use.

Yes, I've been experimenting with loose pigments/eyeshadow in my apartment the last few months. It's hard coming up with colors that aren't already readily available elsewhere, ya know?
I got a lot of info from online forums and I also made friends with another girl who has a similar goal. I've also been experimenting with skincare things, like serums, lotions, masks and face washes.

By next spring I'm hoping to have somewhere to keep all my ingredients and where I can play around with it all. There's not enough room at my apartment Embarrassed

Once some girl in a forum had a recipe to make a natural red lipstick with beet juice. I tried it and failed miserably, but I loved the idea of tinting my lips red with something so natural!

I was just complaining on another thread that I wish I could dye my hair red without putting so much chemicals on my head, and I remembered of you and your goal......Big smile

Pretty lengthy...

I'm in the process of making a somewhat difficult decision. I started a new job @ the beginning of July. My job is about 22 miles from my job.

Soooo, I have a 25 minute commute to and from work every morning and afternoon…gas is pricey and is now becoming an expense all in itself. I currently pay $600 in rent where I live and it does not include lights/cable/internet etc.

So, between gas and rent alone, I am dishing out about $900/month. Plus, I still have to pay car insurance, cell, electric, cable, internet, etc.

My lease is up at the end of October, and I have the next few days to let the apartment complex leasing ppl know whether or not I’d like to renew. I REALLY don’t want to.

Moving back home with my mom is NOT an option as she lives even further away from my job than I do.

I put an ad out on a rooming site and I was offered a place...it’s a guest apartment connected to this woman’s house. The apartment has a private entrance w/it’s own bathroom, kitchen, etc. She’s wanting $350 and that includes electricity/cable/wifi etc…

I NEED to repay my debt, student loans, etc…and I honestly don’t have much surplus income to do that once my bills are paid. Repaying my debts and raising my credit score is priority. I don’t want to be 30 with zero savings and mediocre credit.

The new place would be about 10 minutes from my job. So I wouldn’t be dishing out as much in gas, and I would be paying a lot less in rent—enough for me to start repaying my debt and saving more.

I’m willing to be inconvenienced temporarily if it’ll help me in the long-run.

Thoughts?

Don't know if you made a decision yet but if it's only $350 including all the utilities AND it's closer to your job then I say go for it especially if it'll be saving you money in the long run as far as gas and rent. That's money you can use towards other things.

Last year i was on a personal no buy challenge. I didn't buy anything for myself other than the bare necessities, like hygenic products.

This year I plan to do the same, while executing my business plans. Too early right now to set anything in stone, but I'll be very financially responsible this year.
