Is it just like a black funeral to take a picture of the body at a funeral?  I mean, would you want a picture of Rick James in a casket laying around your house?

You'd be surprised. A lot of cultures take pictures of
deceased relatives. I can tell you from working in a
funeral home, that there is one specific culture that
will frequently ask the funeral directors to take
"before and after" pictures. That's one thing I
will NOT be doing as a funeral director. I'll put a
sign on the door if necessary...."You want pictures,
take 'em yourself.....this ain't Sears".

That is so sad the way he died. I didn't think is family would have showed a picture of him in laying in his casket to everyone. My mom has a picture of my aunt and my younger cousin in their casket. I can't even look at them cause I will break down crying.

Yeah right and I am an monkey's aunt. Anyway the man had abused drugs well over 20 years. A friend of his said that he had 3 shipments of drugs that week. One was cocaine, the other was crystal meth, I fogot the other.

He died from what they said is "Heart Failure". His heart mostly blew up from all of the drug abuse!
He had a heavy drug habit for at least 2 decades, and even tho he was only 56, I'm sure he had the body of a man almost twice his age...meaning there is a very good chance he could have died from natural causes.

He looks horrible. It upsets me when I go to funerals or see pictures and the deceased don't look right or much like themselves. He looks like a wax figure. Not the way I would want to be remembered. It's a very sad situation indeed. My heart goes out to his family.

True, but I heard he did die of heart failure (whatever that is, everyone who dies heart has fails). It just does not seem like they are telling the whole story!

I feel bad that he felt he had to abuse so many drugs to live a happy life.

i still can't believe he is dead because it seems like yesterday he was on the bet awards performing with teena marie. he had everybody cracking up when he said he was rick james lady. i had to laugh on that one myself. he just seemed so fun to be around and so full of life. i hate it when people have to die. but i think he did die of natural causes cause i heard it had a pacemaker in his heart and he also had a stroke back in 1998 from the result of a blood vessell busting on the back of his neck. i heard on the bet nightly news that he was cream maded right after his funeral services. i wonder why his family was so public to his open casket viewing. i mean they took a picture of him and got a picture of him laying in his casket all across the internet. i think that's kind of tacky if you ask me. i mean he don't even look like hisself. anyway, i just hope he rest in peace. he will definitely be missed. i just loved the way he sing. especially on the song fire and desire. that's the most classic song of all time. i wonder did he write that song. if he did, he got mad talent. i know he writes a lot of songs so he could have wrote this one. but he was defintely too young to leave us. i just hope he's in a better place.
