I've been robbed!!!!

Has anyone filed a renters ins claim with StateFarm?

How long was the process and can you recommend anything to expedite the claim review and make things go smoothly?

I've only been dealing since Wed. and I already think I see a gray hair peeking out my box braids.....

All that I can say is good luck and I'm sorry to hear that.

I was renting a house with three friends and had renters' insurance with State Farm. Had three locks on the door, locks on the window, alarm system, etc. The house was broken into and TVs, DVD, Xbox, iPods, sewing machine, clothes, etc. were stolen. We had some serial numbers but they said that we should have kept receipts for everything. Who keeps receipts for everything? We only had the receipt for a few things, like the sewing machine, ipods, and a TV. Mainly receipts that we got by e-mail (which I only do now). We filed a police report and kept in touch with State Farm to let them know everything that we could.

State Farm dragged their feet and only gave us a very small recovery. It took like 8 months, then we got dropped!

Insh'Allah it won't happen to you.

Movers I had once cut the bottom of the VCR box and stole it.  Then taped it up to look like the box was untouched. Thing is the vcr was broken to begin with so I bet they were mad, lol!  (this was long before DVDs came out.)

How do you know the movers did it?  Since you submitted everything, now you just have to wait.  Did they give you a time frame for processing/ cutting a check?

I am sorry that happened to you.  If a claim is up to $5,000.00 your agent is authorized to write a check.  I imagine it is over that amount in your case.  Some agents will sit on the paperwork for weeks, and then submit a claim to the home office.

This is the number for State Farm's Claims Office 1-888-620-5212.  Do NOT let them tell you, that you MUST have receipts.  It is not true.  Stand your ground and get reimbursed for everything that was stolen from you.   There is no clause in any policy for theft, that state that receipts are required to pay a claim.  SF is quick to drop people after a claim, be prepared for that.  Good luck!
