Hey ladies, quick question... I relaxed my hair jan 16, 12 and then dyed it feb 12,12...How long do you think is a good amount of time to wait for a touch up after a dye...BTW im really anxious to dye before April 12 since I'm going to AC with my bf and 3 other couples... I would rather not look like a poofy mess =)

Relaxing over dyed hair isn't such a good idea for a few reasons: First off the relaxer will alter the color and since it's been through a coloring process, the hair shaft itself has been damaged. If you used henna or metallic hair dye, definitely DO NOT RELAX! henna and metallic dyes could have a strang reaction to the relaxer and the results may not be good. If your hair is in great condition you could do a strand test with a mild relaxer to see how it goes or maybe try rollersetting or flat-ironing your hair instead.

I would probably wait until whenever your next touch-up is. In the meantime, use a reconstructor (protein treatments) and deep condition to strengthen your hair a bit.  Be sure to use a mild relaxer and process for a shorter time on hair that has been colored.

I know this question is old, but dye & rinses are different.

Rinses (temporary colors) can be applied the same day after a relaxer & can be retouched weekly (each shampoo service.)

Dyes such as permanent dyes wait at least 3 weeks as suggested, really 1 month but 2 weeks is acceptable depending on your personal scalp & condition of your overall hair.
